Default Any Other People with Eating Disorders?

Now I know many people who are over weight don't have eating disorders. However I do.

Any others here in this forum that either suspect or know that they have an eating disorder.

What have you done or are doing to treat it?

I'm curious because I am starting therapy and was wondering if it really worked and what to expect.

What kind of eating disorder are we talking about. I used to have boughts where I would starve myself for months at a time. I try to stay away from that.

I usually feel really bad for eating, sometimes I restrict, it's kinda sad. I almost feel like going back to that, because I keep eating. I mean honestly, I have been eating veggies after meat and egg fasting....I missed them. But I think I am going to have to cut back on them -_- Maybe I have to go back to meat and egg fast.

You are going to therapy. This almost seems like a good idea for me. But I don't know what they would try to do to me or what they would suggest. I hope they help you out and try not to deter you from your eating plan.

I think that would be many of us here.

The thing that irks me is, it seems that if you have an UNDEReating problem you can get lots of support, help and treatment. If you have an OVEReating problem you're a fat slob with no willpower or discipline.

I know what you mean -_- No one wants to help people who over eat, which is crap. But they are all concerned with you if you aren't eating lol. Neither of them are good.

I agree!!

I looked into treatment centers for eating disorders and for me to go in one I would have to meet a ton of other qualifications. Whereas if my ED manifested itself in a different extreme of not eating, they would let me right in!

I am a emotional eater. I tend to stuff down all the bad things with food. Its always comfort foods too its never say fruit or a carrot lol. I am working with a therapist about this as well as my depression because it goes hand in hand (well hand to mouth ) been going for about a month now. I think it has helped to talk about it.I am still as depressed as ever just better at resisting the urge to stuff it. I think that due to waiting to suceed here though.

Hi,
I am a compulsive eater. I couldnot find the support I needed in 12 step group. I wanted to do the greysheet but there weren't any meetings in my area. I cannot snack between meals I just keep eating and not stopping.

Compulsive overeater and binge eater.

Although, my binges were very sporadic and seemed to have no real trigger to set them off. Well, probably they did, but I haven't examined that yet.

That's great that you're seeing a therapist. I keep thinking I've gotten past my former eating problems, but it seems I've just traded one obsession for another. Now instead of spending all day thinking about what I can eat when I'm alone, I spend the whole day thinking of *not* eating and studying weight loss websites.

It sucks to have your whole life revolve around food, doesn't it?

I had to come to terms with my problem. Common sense would tell you that if you have found a solution like low carb you would be like "AH HA!!!" Get on track and never look back. Many that come here do just that. God bless them!

I think I'm just gonna have a small cheat and binge for days and can't stop. When looking in my journal and stress in my life, I eat. It's no wonder I came here 215 and weigh 200. Yet I have gotten down to 185 and binged my way back to 200 within a matter of weeks. Not once mind you, but a few times I have done this.

Hi! My name is Judy and I'm a compulsive overeater and carb addict.

I am a person who has attended OA meetings for a few years and learned alot about my disorder...I also learned about the issues that trigger me to over eat.

what I did was find a therapist that I worked with for a few years, examining the issues that triggered me.....it was painful and cathartic at the same time. I now know what my triggers are and I use the tools I learned in OA to help me when I am actually triggered. I had to make some sacrifices in my life but it was necessary for me to feel like I had some recovery.

There is hope for people like us...I know that for me, it was about being willing to do the work and face my demons....I am reaping the rewards of this work today......
