The thyroid question was me. I am hypo and was taking 4 grains of Armour up until I ran out over the summer (story is in my journal). Was hoping that since stresses in my life have greatly diminished it would bounce back, but that is not the case. As of Nov 5, still hypo and need meds. I am still off them right now but have a script on the way. I was also taking three other meds for PCOS-metformin, spironolactone and Wellbutrin. I still take a very, very low dose of the Welbutrin but have stopped the others with no adverse symptoms popping back up (so far...crossing fingers!)

So I started ZC/VLC today. Breakfast is three scrambled eggs with cheese, coffee with stevia and heavy cream. I have at least 35 pounds to lose, possibly more if it is a sustainable loss. Here is my first of (hopefully) many small steps to success!

Hiya!

I'm still considering a carnivore diet, though I don't really consider it ZC. Lemon juice is okay for me, but bacon is not so good. Sometime I might try no-sugar bacon but I might have to make it myself because I haven't seen any place to get it.

I think I'm slowly nudging up my digestive capacity - I probably have H. Pylori and low stomach acid. I eat sauerkraut sometimes to compensate and I'm always going back and forth on whether I should wean myself off of it. Feel free to talk me out of fermented veggies.

My latest experiment is to be more strict about not drinking close to mealtimes. I do IF and I've gotten it down to a 2-3 hour window, but my habit has been to only drink during my eating window. The last couple nights I've tried not drinking until an hour or two after my meal. It might be helping but it's too early to tell.

How do you all feel about eggs? Too many carbs? Not true carnivore? Or are they a good thing?

I'm currently breastfeeding. I returned to ZC about 10 days postpartum, and we're at 6 1/2 weeks. Milk is in good supply and baby is gaining on schedule.
And btw, though I did have a two week "stall", on average I'm losing quite fast, too.

I'm glad to see a new thread

I'm going to post a VLC eggnog recipe I found on this site:
http://magicbus.myfreeforum.org/Fat..._about1018.html

Quote:

Jeff's Egg Nog

.5 cup heavy whipping cream
3 raw egg yolks
a pinch of cinnimon
a few drops of vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients together in a blender or with a whisk.

1 serving
600 calories
60g fat 89%
5g carb 3%
11g protein 7%
1g alcohol 1%

This will be my daytime food for a while, does anyone think I should add the egg whites too (some or all?) for more protein?

Glad to hear that baby is doing well - I've been lowering my carbs significantly lately and I'll continue to do so. My baby is also gaining and is healthy.

I may not be totally ZC at this point, but I'd love to lurk on this thread and read your thoughts as I slowly lower my carb intake.. it's pretty low right now. I don't count carbs, if I had to guess, I'm probably under 10 a day on average.

Love the tone of this thread - you guys are so friendly!

I did sleep longer last night than usual, so maybe I'm almost there. *fingers crossed*

Glad your energy is up. Good luck!

I sleep SO heavily now. A Mack Truck could plow through my room and I wouldn't notice. Hubby likes it because I don't "wake up" (eyes open, but still sleeping) and talk to him anymore. lol. But I do have some of the strangest dreams. I was singing lullabies to kittens the other night. lol

Awesome! Is it lower cravings, or the racing heart that did you in before?

I'd never heard of the racing heart indicating a switch into ketosis--weird. Glad you got it figured out though, cause that would make me nervous.

Of course. We know that people like us don't have willpower; that's why we got fat . It's so nice to find a way of eating that doesn't require being hungry or (as much) resisting of cravings.

I would not drink the eggnog because things that taste sweet are not zc to me. They trigger insulin and cause cravings. But, I did eat eggs for many years, I loved them. Now, I do not eat them, but they were my side dish for so long.
Regarding the thyroid. I went off my medication after many years of zc, I would slow down, it will happen in time.

Eat what you like, of course, but I would base my meals around meat, not whipping cream.

So I just put dinner away and did dishes. Today was my first successful day of anything LC in quite a while. Amazingly, no withdrawal headaches, no run down feeling, and no hunger. Lately I make it to dinner and lose it in the evening. I am soooo not hungry right now, I can't even think of sticking my nose in the pantry to find junk. Good!!

I hope everyone else had a great day!
