Default Yogurt

Hello,

I am planning on going Low Carb SBD. What kind of Yogurt should I use. The low fat stuff is loaded with carbs and sugar. The whole yogurt stuff is low in carbs but high in fat. I am thinking I should just stick to a small serving of the whole fat plain yogurt. I am really concerned about sugar. Is yogurt allowed in Phase 1?

A yogurt maker is only $15. You could make your own at home without any sugars. Yogurt from 2% or skim milk would be alot runnier though.

In Phase 2 you can have S/F yogurt and I believe it should be lowfat as well.

In the SBD Good Fats Good Carbs Guide - plain or s/f, l/f or f/f yogurt is allowed. At Wal-Mart there is a Blue Bunny yogurt that is s/f and f/f made with splenda.

Yeah I think the new food guide says yogurt and FF milk are now allowed. I just bought plain yogurt because I wasn't sure about the fruits and flavorings, but I'll check out the Blue Bunny. Esp since I haven't been able to bring myself to eat the plain

I'm saying it's okay in P1... I don't know about yoplait specifically but plain lowfat yogurt is on the new list. So is skim milk.

Thumbs up

Low fat or fat free PLAIN yogurt is allowed during Phase 1. Artificially sweetened fruit yogurts, even if they're low fat and fat-free .. have a "Limited" ranking, so once a week or less often.

Full fat plain yogurt also has a "Limited" ranking, so it's not totally forbidden.

hth,

Doreen
