Default Anyone want to talk about acne?

In my past experiences with lowcarb, pretty much all of my pcos symptoms have cleared right up and i find that to be very empowering, but this time, i still have the occasional acne outbreak. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

I bought my daughter the generic brand of ProActive and her face is wonderfully clear! I got it at CVS & it was about $20 cheaper than the real thing, but the ingredients are exactly the same.

i guess i should update and tell y'all what i've been doing about my acne. i've been using castille soap (very mild, gentle) in the mornings and just water at night. then i follow that with some straight jojoba oil (it's the oil that most closely resembles our natural oils). my skin tone has evened out amazingly. i'm still getting the odd pimple here and there, but no more of the cystic acne that i was getting when i made the op. i've also discovered that my carbs have been a lot higher than what i thought they were and i'm dealing with that right now! i'm also taking 3 tbsp ground flax/day, 2 caps of evening primrose oil and 2 caps of cod liver oil (among other supplements!)

I don't get acne I get absesses in unmentionable places. Geez I'm so glad I don't know you guys! I have to go under general anaesthetic and have them drained and they just come back. I take metformin and am low-carbing but I still have one on the underside of my breast and am currently unable to sit down. Please help.

I'm working on my skin.

I've been using Kavi soap (which can manage excessive oil on your skin) and Eucerin's Pore Purifying face wash (does not clog pores, does not cause acne)

so far, its working.

I've joined healthboards.com 's Acne section. People of the forums' experience with getting rid of acne really help me to choose a right product for my acne prone skin.

Default found something that works!

I was on the web reading reviews for proactiv etc. etc. and found this website
http://www.acne.org/

Click on the link for the "Clear Skin Regimen". I was absolutely desperate, started getting big ugly cysts that took forever to heal, very painful. I am 48 years old, by the way, and have been fighting this my entire adult life. I read the article, went to the drugstore and bought all the stuff recommended and started the regimen. This was 3 weeks ago. I cannot believe the improvement. Word of warning - I used the neutrogena moisturizer on top of the benzyl peroxide and burnt my face. I had tried benzyl peroxide before, but stupidly had only applied it to existing breakouts, I just did not think to put it all over my face to PREVENT breakouts. Anyway, very happy. Hope this helps someone else!!!

Also try zinc supplements. Zinc is just as effective, over time, as oral antibiotics. It only works though, if you are deficient.

Buy a bottle and try it until you run out and see if it helps. I take, I think 60mcg a day and have found it very helpful.

I find tea tree oil and witch hazel really helpful myself. You can get shower gels and body washes with them in if you shop around enough.

I used Pro Activ before and it only made my skin worse. The cleanser adds fuel to the fire. I would advise going to www.acne.org and checking out their regime or their Message boards they have discussions about every skin care product and medication there ever was.

Loreal has a glycolic peel kit, its marketed for "anti aging" but it has worked wonders for me.
