Sondacop- I hope you are doing well and wish you the best of luck in your journey. I see your post was from last year but I wanted too to extend my sympathies for your loss. I was wondering if you were still trying the cod liver oil? How is/did it go? I'm thinking about trying it... but not sure if I can stomach it... any thoughts?

You are right, October was last year, but sometimes it feels like yesterday. I have since done an unsuccessful cycle and have started another. I have not yet found cod-oil, I really should be more diligent in looking for it, thanks for bringing it up, I will see if I can find some next week.

Cod Liver Oil (CLO) is best stored in the refrigerator and taken cold.

If you can get vitamin D3 gelcaps, they would be better.

Yes, I was thinking about some sort of caps too- not sure I could handle the liquid- I don't do well with liquid meds- cough syrup etc anyway- can't imagine the taste of the cod liver oil...Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best place to purchase the caps?

Didn't get a chance to look today nor will I have a chance tomorrow, I'll try Tuesday.

I have started another cycle - started suppression. I also started another round of acupuncture.

I finally found cod liver oil.... in caps! Not what I was expecting, but this was the only form I found. It is a Solgar product. It has 1000 vit a and 400 d3 (I take 8 drops of D3 so that does not concern me).
My cycle is not going well, I have not been suppressed, a follicle has developed and is producing estrogen. I have now been on the suppression phase for a month. Very frustrating!

Default Dose?

So how much of this cod oil caps should I be taking? It says 1000 A, and I have A in my prenatals. How much should I be taking daily? I have started the stimulation phase this week, finally.

I've been taking a little cod liver oil daily. I have to say, I don't mind the taste at all. It is pretty mild.

You must read this one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/art...62/?tool=pubmed
Vit A is extremely important. I wonder if my fetus's heart stopped because of a vit A deficiency.

Some people can't convert the beta-carotene sort of vitamin A to what the body uses. I had a genetic test done and found out I'm one of them.

http://www.snpedia.com/index.php/Rs7501331
Quote:
[PMID 19103647] rs12934922 (R267S) and rs7501331 (A379V) double mutant have a reduced catalytic activity of beta-carotene by 57%. Female volunteers carrying the T variant of rs7501331 (379V) had a 32% lower ability to convert Beta-carotene, and those carrying at least one T in both SNPs show a 69% lower ability to convert Beta-carotene into retinyl esters.

So a vegan with this would probably be infertile. What about low fat diets, A needs fat for absorption, could this also be a cause for the rise in infertility?

I found it very interesting that the researcher was able to save the fetuses by supplementing with vit a. I wonder if this could be a save for a human fetus diagnosed with a slow heartbeat, soon to miscarry.

So how much vit A should I be taking?

I just take a tablespoon of CLO daily. One tsp has 92% of the RDA, which, as we know, is a bare minimum. So 3x that ought to be safe. It also 1200 d3 in a Tbl. too. I'm using Twinlab, Norwegian CLO.

I can swig it right out of the bottle and the taste doesn't put me off at all.

It also has Omega-3 FA, which is very important to your fetus too.

I could only find the caps by Solgar, 1000 A 400 D. I already take D3 drops, and fish oils. How many caps should I take?

From WP -

Quote:
•Children over 12 years and adults: A maintenance dose of cod liver oil that provides about 10,000 IU vitamin A daily, obtained from 2 teaspoons of regular cod liver oil or 1 teaspoon of high-vitamin cod liver oil.
•Pregnant and nursing women: A dose of cod liver oil that provides about 20,000 IU vitamin A daily, obtained from 4 teaspoons regular cod liver oil or 2 teaspoons high-vitamin cod liver oil.

http://www.westonaprice.org/cod-liv...-basics#clarify

I'd need 10-20 caps a day.
