Default Blood pressure improvements?

Questions

1) anyone else have variable BP that really changes with stress?
If I'm really calm (rare), my BP will be 115/70 HR 82-84
But most of the time I'm a nervous frazzled type and BP will be 140/85 HR 95
Anyone else like this?

2) Love to hear BP success stories ?

Thanks folks!,

Oh my gosh yes, my husbands blood pressure can go really high at the doctor's office, like 145 or higher. He bought a cuff and after testing it at home, it is usually okay. Apparently that is quite common--"white coat syndrome".

Mine is always fine, even when I'm nervous (it goes up just a bit).

Many people have had improvements in blood pressure by sticking with a LC diet, but it seems to take some time. Whatever you do, don't let the doc put you on those dreadful statins!

I don't know. Mine went up around the time I went LC and suddenly came down out of the blue after seven years of running high while lowcarbing but it didn't really seem related to stress. I thought it was genetics and it would just keep going up no matter what I did but now it's completely normal. The only factor I can tie to it is that I gave up coffee around the time it ticked down. I ingest no caffeine now due to some odd circumstances and it's been completely normal since that. I lost my taste for coffee after getting the flu. Otherwise I never would have stopped drinking it.

Yes, my BP has always reacted dramatically to stress. In hospital I had my BP taken when I'd just woken and was super relaxed, and it was around 100/60, and relaxed at home in the daytime is 120/75 ish, but put me under stress like a GP appt and it can be as high as 160/100.

Low carb and fasting has brought the 'stressed' readings down a bit - I can normally get 145/90 ish. I'm also a person who reacts badly to salt and caffeine. For most salt doesn't move BP a lot, but for me it causes lots of fluid retention and higher BP so I have to keep it at 5g a day or lower. Sleeping well also helps keep my BP lower, as it also rises when I've not slept well.

My blood pressure has always been ridiculously low, in fact as a child I used to faint quite a lot. I dont know how significant it is or if its bad if mine ever rose to normal - or even if that would be considered high for me?

My BP was dangerously high ( 220/110) at one time and I refused BP medication. After 1 month of LC it went down to 140/90 and now after almost 7 month it is 125/80. The only time it goes up is when I am about to give blood ( every 8 weeks) so I think it is stress related, because at 150/100 they will refuse you. I have not been refused the last 3 times

Thanks!

I'm using a home unit, but I had one high reading and now I get "white coat syndrome " even when I check it myself. Stupid brain!
So now, if I'm relaxed, all I have to do is think about checking it and I can feel the adrenal surge, and my heart rate increase. I think I need to be hypnotized to see what it really is lol

I got really dehydrated over the course of a week, so I 'think' that is what caused the first high reading, now I'm paranoid every time I check it.

I calculated my electrolyte intake and man, I was gettin 5-6 g sodium and under 700 mg of potassium. I did some reading online and it looks like dehydration with low potassium + of course mental stress could cause high BP and higher HR.

That sounds like me, stress = 145-150. Hate that!

Before the dehydration, I had checked it at home, it was like 115/77 HR84.

I would not worry about it if your home readings are good.

The high ones were home also, I was reading about dehydration and potasium, last night I got more potasium, then today even more and more fluids, BP has been dropping , so far so good.
Now down to 131/79 HR 80

Gotcha. Is your sleep good? I see you lift weights. Do you take any supplements?

Better sleep might help.
