Default Atkins Product Drought in SA

Hi Everyone,

I'm on day 6 of my new lifestyle and am enjoying every second of my new challenge!

I'd just like to ask a quick question. In South Africa there really aren't a lot of Atkins products available or even a lot of the products which you guys occasionally refer to.

I'd like to know whether 7up Free is safe for Atkins Induction? Also whether anyone has any knowledge of a cool drink concentrate called Low Cal. I used to like mixing the two together.

Thanks and have a Super Low Carb Day!

Hi Samijoe - and welcome!!

You will likely get several responses....but in my opinion, fresh, whole foods and not any of the Atkins products are much better for you. In his original plan, Dr. A focuses on meat, eggs, cheese, dairy (in moderation) and LC veggies. You are actually lucky not to have any of those as temptations as some find they cause slow losses, stalls, binges even upset bellies and the like.

I would think the 7Up is OK but don't know anything about the Low-Cal. If it has no carbs or sugar, I'm guessing it would be OK...check the label.

Best wishes to you!
Deanna

Thanks for the reply Deanna. Now at least i can have some 7up free is ok. It's about the only diet soda i can stomach.

The Low Cal contains aspartame. Is that ok?

Yes - I think so...in moderation. However, during induction you really want to get "down to basics." Others will chime in, I hope....there are lots of senior members with really good info.

Have you any of Dr. Atkins' books? So much good information to help you plod along on this journey and your new way of life. Super helpful in answering your questions.

Also, on the main forum page there is a newbie section. In that, you'll find a "sticky" that also has some good stuff to read!

I encourage you to read as much as possible...the more you understand the how's of this WOE, the easier it seems to be.

Deanna
