Default 10 pounds 10 times challenge

I saw someone say once that losing 100 pounds sounds more overwhelming that says im going to lose 10 pounds 10 times.... it works great for me..

This is a challenge for those that have roughly have 100 pounds to lose.
There is no time limit on this challenge.

so just keep track and as you lose your 10's just mark them in bold.

10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10

weight 2/7/2011 270

I like this idea. I have over 120 lbs to lose. 10 lbs 10 times sounds so much better. I'm with you Ilovemykit!

I don't really qualify anymore for this, but I just want to tell you guys what I do in case it might help someone. I have kind of a long-term goal in mind, but I try not to think about it. I set a lot of little goals, but if you notice I don't want to be haunted by my long term goal of 140 if you look at my stats. It's just too overwhelming to think about even after having lost 73lbs. So what I do is set my goal about 10lbs less than whatever point I'm at. When I get to within a few pounds of it, I drop it again another 10lbs. So I was 180.6 the other day and my goal was 175. I dropped my goal to 169. When I get to about 173 or so, I'll drop it to 163. And so on. I just do everything I can to forget about the long-term goal almost entirely.

It's close to what you're suggesting, but any way I could find to trick my mind into not thinking it was as far away as it really was... I did it. And I've managed to stick with LC this time (long story why this is round #2-- lost 80lb the first time) for 10+ months straight with very few deviations and none that lasted more than a couple days. Changing how you view losing such a high amount psychologically can make all the difference.

Good luck everyone!

Great job, missace! So 30lbs since September. That's great. I wish for 10 lbs a month, but I see with your records, less is still great!! I think of "Wow, if I was 30 lbs less in 4 months, I would be slimmer than I've been since before my last 2 babies." That's been over 11 years ago probably. Ahhhh, that would be great!! I officially weigh in tomorrow night at church. I really haven't cheated, but for some reason, i don't feel like I've lost any. I felt like it last time. I feel so bloated this time. It maybe TOM soon or because of constipation. Who knows? I'm taking Fiber Choice daily now, so it should start to get better.

I can usually "feel" it if I've lost weight or not. I try to avoid the scale the days I feel like I haven't, so that I don't get discouraged. And yeah, I guess since I hit 214 on Sept 9, I've lost about 35lb. Not crazy fantastic, but I've for the most part stayed around 30-40 carbs a day, because I don't think I would make it more than a month on VLC. One month I tried VLC (September, actually) and lost 8lbs that month. Usually I lose 6. It wasn't worth the extra misery for 2 extra pounds, you know? I want this to be something I can commit to for the long term (and thus I have), but if I wanted to cheat after 1 month, I'd only have lost 12lbs versus my current 73. It's a trade off. Slower weight loss for being able to stay on plan consistently over a long period of time.

Also keep in mind 10lb a month is decent at a heavier weight because it's easier to lose weight. I've lost consistently less per month as I've gotten lighter.
