Hi there...
You may be pleasantly surprised when you get back home!
I was in Brisbane 2 months ago and found that Woolies has added a bunch of low carb products to there shelves. also the only place I could find Splenda in the little pocket carrier tablet form.

Don't know about the noodles.....would love to find them here.

shirataki noodles are found in japanese stores, you will need to look that up for brisvegas though, i am from melbourne.
but, this site is great, they send overseas and we've found them to be cheaper than health food shops. i love the Empower range of foods:

Thin, long, translucent noodles made from very fine strands of a gelatinous substance called konnyaku, which is taken from the "devil's tongue plant" (Japanese yam). Their texture is slightly rubbery and they do not have any flavor. The noodles will pick up the flavor of the broth or other ingredients in the dish in which they are simmered. They are available dried or packaged in water in a plastic casing
they are mostly fibre which is why they are low carb

Question I think i have found them in Brunei

But the label is all in Japanese!!!!!I have used a japanese english dictionary(the internet is great!) and have figured out they have 4.39 carb,o.1 fat,.11 proteinper 100 gram but there are 2 mystery amounts for 18.9 and 3 !??
I have no idea what they are. They are listed thus
18.9
.11
.1
4.39
3
anybody body got any ideas?
I think the 3 could be fibre or sodium. But who knows what the first thing is?
They smell and look like shirataki noodles? And the texture is right...very frustrating!

they are quite high in fibre so i would say you are right the 3 is fibre. the 18.9 could be anything but i doubt it is carbs. try them and see how you go!

Default Desperately Seeking Konnyaku Noodles

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy Konnyaku noodles in Melbourne. If your suggestion is Chinatown, could you please suggest a specific store and street. Thanks a million!

Default message for diananadia

Hi, sorry to post to you here, but I tried to send you a personal message and it said that I couldn't. I'm curious about Brunei. I am thinking of applying for an English teaching job with Brunei secondary schools. Pretty good conditions by the sounds of things.

Is it a good expat lifestyle? Is it nice for women despite the Muslim religion being mainstream? I know it is a lot quieter than Malaysia and Singapore which I have visited, but I'm not sure to what extent.

I'd love to hear back from you with lots of info.

thanks in advance

Nadia

Default hello again Diananadia

No I didin't get your other email. My brother keeps sending me crap and filling up my inbox so stuff gets bounced. I'm in the middle of changing my plan so that won't happen. I'm still keen to hear some details.

Thanks Nadia
