Amongst a whole bunch of other gibberish it tells me ...

"Aim for at least 4.5 whole grains a day"

While I normally consume zero, I guess 4.5 grains won't affect my carb intake much!

Hmmm, low fat, low protein and very low on grains ... I wonder where the rest of the my 2600 calories are supposed to come from?

Cheers,

Malcolm

LOL. I'd seen some other howlers on their site, but somehow missed that one.

Grains 6 ounces

Vegetables 2.5 cups

Fruits 2 cups

Milk 3 cups

Meat & Beans 5.5 ounces

hmmmmm, this looks good if you want to maintain weight, or put weight on, but surely it's not healthy for a weight loss program?

Sounds like a crock to me.
Based on the information you provided and the average needs for your age, gender and physical activity [Age: 57, Sex: male, Physical Activity: 30 to 60 Minutes] your results indicate that you should eat these amounts from the following food groups daily.

Your results are based on a 2400 calorie pattern*.

I eat 1200 - 1400 calories and am just maintaining.

From what I have seen of this new pyramid, inputting my info, it looks a bit carb heavy to me.

Of course it is. It was put together by the Dept. of Agriculture. They want us to eat lots of grains

A little!?!?!?! Wow you are generous!

It's too heavy on carbs, too light on fat and protein!
