Hello everyone,

40 years old here. Thinking about taking the low carb plunge again. I was not a super fan of Atkins; my first low carb book was Protein Power. Someone on another board mentioned the Protein Power Lifeplan was a better book, but I am concerned about the mediocre reviews it got on Amazon.

I am 208 pounds. I should be somewhere between 170-175. I want to lose the weight not only because I want to be healthy, but also for future business purposes: I study a martial art and I would like to teach students and/or run a school of my own someday. Sad as it is, we live in a superficial world, and who do you think people would trust to learn self-defense from? A dude with a beer gut, or someone who looks fit? :-)

I look forward to guidance and exchanging ideas.

Welcome Steve,
I haven't read the reviews on Amazon, but Dr. Eades has said something along the lines that Lifeplan was the book he wanted to first write. It is a deeper dive into Evolutionary/Paleo health as related to what is optimal food for humans, chapters he could not add to the Power Protein diet book. so a bit nerdy, perhaps? He announced a few years ago that he is writing an update to Protein Power, but I've heard nothing about it since. The original PP is a perfectly good diet plan, though its sub-forum not active now. Dr. Eades stays active on his blog, gives great talks. Please look all around this forum, many different low carb plans are supported.
All the best,
