mark sisson says you show dark purple every morning on your sticks because of the length of time between meals....

otherwise, they are not a good rule of measuring ketosis.

A total waste of time and money.

We have had several members here now who have followed Atkins and lost over 100 pounds, yet never once showed a positive result on the ketostix. It is also possible to show a positive result simply because you are eating a lot of fatty food, have drunk alcohol or are fairly dehydrated.

Just follow your plan, and be happy when you get smaller.

I have had times when they were only turning light purple, but, and maybe I'm new at this, for me they never show when I'm eating off plan regardless of how long since I've eaten last, and show very well only after 3 or so days of clean eating. So, they work fine for me.
