Gosh I must admit I am so chuffed to have seen it through to the other side.!! Xmas and New Year I mean

There were a few challenging choices and whilst I wasn't perfect I was fully in control of my decisions and ate at least 95% o/p.

Seeing all the programs coming on the telly and adverts promoting DIETING, jeez I hate that word I'm so glad I don't have that (stuffed pig) feeling I generally have, usually with good reason

I think my wish for the overweight in 2016 is that they truly see

DIETS ARE NOT THE WAY, CHANGING YOUR WAY OF EATING PERMANENTLY IS.

There are so many unhappy people who will be joining clubs, taking up exercise, starving themselves. I guess losing weight by whatever method can only be a good thing, I just wish they didn't think they just had to do it temporarily. From studies carried out, can't link to them, I understand yo-yo dieting is even more unhealthy long term than doing nothing.
Just my opinion

That would be so wonderful Pat, to have a nice proper walk-in greenhouse...
Well that's something good to plan for the future!

So good to see (read) you!!

Don't wish to be ungrateful for my lot but; my greenhouse is more of a dilapidated old shed, that is now mostly surrounded by overgrown trees. Can't cut the trees down as we need them for the shelter.
Consequently it doesn't get sunlight. However it is useful for protecting plants in bad weather and bringing on cuttings. It's also a handy storage area. But really more of a shed with a bit of glass than a greenhouse

That would suffice for me just to have a place to bring my tropical potted plants into to protect then from freezing weather, even though we don't get too much of that here, it only takes one freeze to burn all of the leaves.

Last year I lost a 4' Avocado that my friend grew from seed and also an Almond at the same height that she also grew from seed, and an amazing night blooming Cereus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbzi8XydHQc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4ryvt0VPNE
Mine would have 4-5 blooms in a night and twice the size of these. Such a gorgeous bloom from an unimpressive looking plant. The petals look like the feathers of a swan.

Thankfully, another friend gave me some more Night Blooming Cereus cuttings to root but they haven't started blooming yet.

I will admit though, that I have always had visions of an all glass hothouse where I could grow amazing vegetables and plants year round although in the summer I might need an air-conditioner to keep everything from frying in the summer heat.

Hi, everyone! I am back from my vacation. Rude awakening to leave high 60's low 70's and come back -2F. Hope you are all doing well.

Hi
Hope you enjoyed your vacation cruising and visiting Disney. It's nice to do something different.

Our temperature here in UK is much the same as yours. Expecting snow tonight which will make a change from all the rain and flooding.

Doing okay here just plugging away. Baked a big tray of chicken thighs with skin plus some chicken breasts tonight. DH doesn't like greasy thighs I don't like plain dry breast, so suits us both and will do a good few meals. I also chuck in a few garlic cloves still in the skin. That way I can squeeze them on to mine and they have not "contaminated" his.

Enjoyed my vacation and stayed mostly on plan. I did enjoy a few adult beverages. We set up the vacation so that our kids (20 and 21) could go off and do things on their own. They mostly hung out with us so that was really nice to have family time. Oldest is a senior in college so probably our last family vacation as just the 4 of us.

Did you end up getting snow?

I prefer chicken thighs to breasts too. Had to laugh about the contaminated part. My DH is will eat whatever I make now that I am cooking LC. Before he would rarely eat what I made for myself and the kids.
