Welcome aboard Cathy,

Congrats on weight loss so far. Unfortunately, some of us lose weight slower than others. But as long as we're losing, it's better than gaining!

How about having multiple pals? Check out the Journal/Bootcamp forum for plenty of feedback and support.

You may as well visit the local low-carbers forum, to find members in your area, some of our members manage to arrange meetings and low-carb dinners, such as Vancouver, Toronto and Houston! Pennsylvania members are almost there for a first meeting as well

Keep us posted on your progress!

Cathy,
I, too have just started the Atkins Diet, I would love to be your email pal. I have been trying to keep to it and yes I miss sandwiches too. I want to lose about 20 kilos (approx 2.3 lbs to the kilo. It would be good to have someone to bolster me when the going gets hard. I already have a friend in Texas who is starting the diet as well.

Welcome to the Forum Cathy!

As for sandwiches, fillings can be rolled up in sturdy Romaine lettuce leaves or sheets of nori seaweed (that's the stuff that is wrapped around certain types of sushi).

Karen, I bought some nori, but have no idea how to use them. Do you soak them or boil them, or just use dry?

hi cathy! welcome aboard! i find instead of sandwiches now i eat salads. i mix tuna or chicken up with chopped lettuce and mayonaise. i find it more satisfying than a sandwich! i really don't miss sandwiches at all anymore.
posting on the journal/bootcamp is a great way to track what you eat and get some new ideas from others!

Exclamation HELP

Today is umm...day 3 of my no carb diet. I am doing Atkins. I think I messed up tonight at dinner. I had some lettuce, radishes, and some cucumber..and I used Ranch dressing. I also had steak..I wasn't supposed to use the dressing this first week right? And to make matters worse...I can't find my Atkins book Please can someone send some advice my way? I was so proud to get through even 3 days..and I hope I haven't "blown" it.

hi cathy! read the label on the ranch dressing! if it's not the light dressing, it's probably pretty low. i often use kraft's 3 cheese ranch! just count the carbs!

Hi Cathy

I would also like a low carb pal, and like u this is day three for me trying the basics at low carb. For your sandwich question there are some receipes for low carb bread might want to check them out. I havent used any of them yet. But thought I would try to make one or two.
Look forward to hearing from You

Even thinking of bread will prevent you from losing weight!

Please, please get another copy of Atkins. This is a low carb way of eating, not no-carb. You are allowed to have low carb vegetables as long as they fall within the 20 gram a day guideline.

Get the book and stick with it. You have accomplished day five which is a wonderful thing! But you need to know how to do it right.

Hi Cathy

Thanks for replying to my post. Today I will begin day 5. I have been keeping my carbs low. I havent made the bread yet will probably wait another week or so. Have u purchased any thing from the health food store? I got a few things but havent used them yet. I need more hours in my days. Do you work? Have Kids? Married?

well talk to you soon
