Default Nasira's Workout Plan

I've been working out for the past week consistently. I feel good. So good, I thought I'd start a gym. Why not? I'll be going, so I might as well record my progress. The one thing I have committed to do 6 days a week is walk. In addition to that I have a personal trainer. I have been thru hell w/him last week, and look forward to more. Well, I am off to the gym now. I will return with the results of my workout.

You go girl! I'm proud of you starting your gym log. There's lots of great advice here if needed
I know you have a personal trainer giving you guidance, but it is strongly recommended to do cardio AFTER your weights. In other words, do weights first. This will facilitate the fat burning process. The reverse may inhibit fat loss, as it can cause you to lose muscle.

Enjoy your evening!

Nadz is right. Lift first, cardio after. Never the other way around.

Default Thank you kindly!!

Hey all!

Thank you for the advice. I will try it that way today. I already walked this morning. It was a nice walk with friends. We did hills and a walking trail. By the time I got home I had broken a sweat and felt wonderful.

I am headed to the gym at 2 - I will follow your advice and do weights 1st...come to think of it, that's what my trainer had me do last week. Since I was solo, I thought it didn't make a difference - but I see that it does! Thanks for the link. Take care everybody!!!

You also have the option of doing your cardio in the morning (some argue that it's better to do this on an empty stomach to burn more fat), then do weights at least eight hours later, say in the afternoon/ evening.
Enjoy!!!

And I haven't worked out yet!!! I am distraught. I refuse to let the day go by without doing a workout of some sort. I got a late start to my day, and just got into the office. I have some work to do, and by the time I leave my office, the gym will be closed

Well, I will do something - walk tonight or do my cardio salsa tape - or both.
I will let you know!
Rest assured - I will do something!
I will feel awful if I don't!!

Default I did it

I managed to get in a good workout at home last night. I did my Crunch Cardio Salsa DVD and sweated up a storm. It felt good to remain consistent. The last thing I wanted to do was NOT workout last night. 1 more week before this becomes a habit - I am optimistic.

TOM is here, but I am pushing forward no matter how icky I feel. I am headed to the gym in an hour. I plan to workout w/my trainer. Today is arms, back and abs...

Default Arms

I got to the gym a little late, but I was able to get in a decent workout. Today I did Arms and abs (no time for back). I'm not trying to get that excited after 1 week of full commitment, BUT I looked different in that mirror. Just a tiny bit smaller and less jigglin'!! It was a great motivator. I thought just wait until 3 months later...

Arms
Biceps 3(10) ~ 10 lbs
Triceps " "
Shoulder Press " "

Abs
Pullovers 3(15) ~ 50 lbs
90 crunches
10 V ups <----- I did them very badly, but I did it!

Default You got that right!

Hey Nadz!

Yes, I feel really good about the simple choices I am making, determined to stick to this new WOL. For real!!!

I walked this morning. 8am with my good friend. We walked for like an hour at a very good pace. The campus is absolutely beautiful and often times I forgot I was even walking. I also walked to work instead of driving. It's a 10 minute walk up/downhill and TOTALLY worth it. I realized this was yet aother way to incorporate getting fit into my routine.

No gym today. I will do some other things and explore my fitness options.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Default The weekend

I had a good workout yesterday (Saturday morning). I walked 3-4 miles. It was a nice challenge. The path was hilly ~ times. I felt tired after, but I was happy I did it. Today I did my cardio salsa tape. It always gets me sweating and I feel really energized afterward. Tomorrow, back to the gym...
