Smile Help, I need encouragement and support

Hi.....bad year, need your help and support

Hello everyone. I am new here. This has been a very hard year. I had triplets on June 14,2001. All were born perfectly healthy but not up to weight to go home. My son died at six weeks old with an electrolyte imbalance......and at three months old my daughter died of the same thing. They never left the hospital. They were just growing, but the fluids they were giving them got out of balance and they both had heart attacks. My surviving triplet is great. He is doing well and growing perfectly and is the joy of my life. I have no control over many aspects of my life. My weight has always been on the heavy side, but I weight almost as much as I did when I was pregnant with triplets. I am a carb addict and I do get pleasure from food...(sad but true). I think my self esteem and my depression would both be helped by weight loss. Any support would be appreciated.

Fluffy,
I'm so sorry for what you have been going through!
My deepest sympathy goes out to you and family.
Glad to know your baby boy is doing good and is strong
Starting LC-ing is hard for true Carb addicts..(like ME)
Had to have my comfort carbs...especially when stressed or sad or mad....and sweets on top of that..ugh..wasn't a pretty sight
First I cut way back on the bread, rice etc...then went a week or so with out and ate a little again then a few weeks without....and so on until I just wasn't eating it anymore. With time (and not a very long time) it got easier. The sweets were harder.....I went to the natural food store and got subisitutes to go with a.m. coffee.
I was the cookie, donut dunking queen of the a.m. That worked and now I don't even need the subs
You should find that after LC-ing for even just a short time your
energy levels and moods, bloating etc. improve drastically...did for me anyway. I really needed cleansed
You'll find a lot of support here and great ideas to keep you going.
Welcome and Glad you're here

Hi Fluffy,

My deepest sympathy for the loss of your little ones.

I think you'd do well low-carbing - it's pretty much the least stressful way to try to lose weight. I think your biggest problem would be that tendancy to 'self-medicate' through carby foods. That's what I used to do. It's a big hurdle to overcome, probably analogous to quitting smoking, but it's worth it. You'd be amazed how much extra time and extra energy you have when you're not drugged up on carbs.

Whatever you decide, good luck and good health to you and your son.

Default Welcome!

I'm so sorry for your loss, but celebrate with you your healthy son! My favorite thing when staying home with my first daughter was to mindlessly empty a fresh bag of potato chips during her nap. That's what I thought I'd never be able to do without! WRONG! The very idea of having bacon and eggs for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and REAL dressing on salads with steak and sauteed mushrooms has MORE than made up for it! There are so many things you can eat of this diet and still lose-it's amazing. This forum will really help you, and you can encourage others as well. Good luck! And enjoy that wonderful boy-they grow up so FAST!!! Lynda

My deepest sympathies for the loss of two of your children and my best wishes for the health of the third.

I'm glad you have chosen to give this way-of-eating a chance and, if given a true chance, I'm very confident that you will do very well. Most - not all - of us here are carb addicts to one degree or another. If you can stay the course for a few weeks, your addiction will most likely be broken (as much as any addiction can be broken) and you will be utterly amazed at how easy it will be to walk past the donut box at work - and how great being able to do so will make you feel.

Stick close to this forum and especially consider starting a journal here - it and the friends you will make on this site will be a tremendously valuable asset on your journey.

Hi Fluffy-

My name is Patty and I am so very sorry for your loss. I am starting induction tomorrow (9/12) and am a little nervous. I'll be around if you are looking for support in anyway. I had a baby girl last August (just before I turned 40!). I have been sturggling with my weight terribly since she came along though I had always had a weight problem. Stay close to the boards - I look forward to talking to you. Take care-

Patty

Smile If you need another buddy...

Hi~ I am sorry to hear about your loss, all the more to treasure your child. Our baby is 11 mo. old today,& is challenging my current fitness level She is walking, & on her way to running & she must have inherited my genes for climbing, because she wants to climb *EVERYTHING* these days... (hubby doesn't like heights, when I was younger-the higher the tree-the more fun it was) I am just starting as well, doing a sort-of countdown to induction thing, which I plan on starting the 20th. I am finding this place is a God-send as far as ppl who are supporting, and who KNOW what it is like to have a carb problem. I look forward to talking with you... God bless you and yours~
