Default ground pecans

I really need Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so new at this, maybe I didn't ask the right question. Can ground pecans be used in place of almond flour, or ground up almonds??????? Like I said in a previous thread, I bought some ground of pecans because the store didn't have ground almonds (almond flour). I plan to get some almond flour as soon as I can. In the mean time, can I use the ground up pecans instead, for muffins etc.??????????

Sure you can! I've used ground hazelnuts with success.

I think the reason that ground almonds are so often used is that their flavour is a little blander, and so it is a little closer to flour.

But if you're happy to have your muffins taste of pecans (sounds yum to me ), I'd say go for it.

I would think that the pecans would be a bit more oily than almonds-don't you think? More like walnuts. It shouldn't make any diff in muffins. Let us know! My mom is always giving me pecans.

The pecans are a little more oily, and the texture is a little different, but they do work. Almond meal makes muffins more like old fashioned "made from scratch" cakes or corn muffins (one friend said you could taste the crunch - although I couldn't).

it should be fun trying it - you can eat the results even if it doesn't look good!

I never use almond flour lately and have gotten in the habit of using pecan flour quite a bit. (it does taste a little more pecan ish then of course). I have also used walnuts and peanut flour but those just didn't have a great taste.

Also for lc crackers I have used ground sunflower seeds which worked quite nicely as well!!

Hazelnuts though, like Rosebud suggested, have a nice neutral flavor as well!
