Default Hi im a newbie

Hi all,

im pam and i am 24, live in the uk and in desperate need to diet.

i dont really know where to start, i have just been diagnosed with PCOS and i have been told to start a low carb diet to help me lose weight, i googled low carb diet and it came up with this website so here i am.

I have never really done a serious diet before but i really do need to lose weight, i have heard of the atkins diet and that is about it, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Where do i start?

Thanks again

HI and welcome
The best place to start would be to read the book - Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution. It should be available at your local library, or at any bookstore. It will explain to you WHY and HOW it works, and it also give you a list of the foods that are allowed on each phase of the diet.
Good luck to you!

Welcome! Also, if you're thinking about starting Atkins, don't think of it as a diet. To my mind, this is the absolute best way in the entire world of eating! Food has flavor, and what you eat heals the body and makes it healthier instead of starving it of vital nutrients like low-fat diets do. I've been around the 'diet' track a time or two and one thing I've found out about Atkins is that it's sustainable. I've been at this for almost 11 months now--nope, haven't lost a ton of weight, but I'm not that young, either, and have a few health problems that flare up from time to time that tend to impede weight loss. If I had been trying to lose weight and deal with everything else I've been dealing with over the past months I never would've lasted. I can keep doing this forever!
