Thumbs up Just looking for a little feedback

Hi there!

I just joined this forum recently, but I've been lurking for sometime now I was hoping maybe some more experienced CAD/CALP'ers could weigh in (haha!) on my program and let me know what they think.

I've read every book put out by the Heller's and I've been on and off CAD/CALP many times in the past. I think I get discourage because weight loss is slow. I do enjoy the way I feel on the program though. I tried Atkins for 4 days and felt nauseous and weak and then decided to go back to CAD. Today is day 3 of CAD.

This time I'm counting carbs to ensure I stay under 100 grams per day and I'm keeping my calories in mind. I do have a lot of weight to lose. In addition to the following the plan as set out in CALP, do you think restricting carbs to below 100 grams and watching calories may help to get the weight off a little quicker?

I appreciate any and all responses!

The best advice that I could give to you is to follow the guidelines of CALP and live your life! Before you know it, the weight will be off and you will have found the best way to eat for the rest of your life.

I have been following this way of eating for over three years now and I am extremely proud of the way that I look and feel. My experience has been over a twenty five year period of fighting my weight, always ending up bigger than the last time. I can assure you that this way of eating is perfect for me and I will never be overweight again!

My sister just started CALP last month and ended up losing fourteen pounds in that short amount of time. She just told me that her scale has not been moving lately but it doesn't matter because she is getting into smaller clothes. As far as I am concerned, knowing how slow it can seem to take to lose a substantial amount of weight tells me that she has the right attitude.

By the way, I do not limit anything. I love food and have a hearty appetite. I look forward to the foods that I want to eat on a given day and do my best to keep them within the guidelines of the program.

I believe the best thing you can do for yourself is to find a program that is easy for you to follow and then the most important part will be to follow it and put in the time!

I believe anyone can do it, I did!

Best wishes,

to what Terri said.

I have even more weight to lose than you, for me, I just can't imagine doing anything other than CALP. It is the right one for me. I do not limit calories, but do watch the carb count on my rm carbs simply because I am pre-diabetic and my bs's do better when I stay under a certain amount (i.e. I like thinwiches if I do want bread for a rm sandwich, versus two full slices of regular bread).

best wishes to you, hope to see you posting more often.

hi-
welcome! I agree with Pat and Teri.
That said, BALANCING your RM is really key, IMHO. It is pretty easy to keep your carbs under 100 if you BALANCE the carbs and only have sugar occasionally. I have a close friend who is doing that, but limiting her carbs to 30-50/day. She has special issues, but has lost 30 lbs on CALP after not losing 1lb in 6 years of other diets. SHe is also aware this is NOT a diet, but a WOL.

welcome and post and tell us all about you! We also want to learn from YOU. So come on in- the water's fine!
