I've recently started Quick Callanetics, which has 3 20-minute segments, each focusing on an area (hips/butt, stomach, legs). Although I need to modify them a bit due to my size and limited flexibility, I have found that they have helped a lot in re-shaping those areas listed. Of course, when I say reshaping, I mean that very broadly (pardon the pun), because the excessive poundage is still slowly being shed. But my overall shape has improved. I DO need to add some cardio, but I wanted you to know this program works pretty well. She also modifies exercises for people with bad backs. I have trouble kneeling due to knee surgery, so I do the kneeling exercises standing up for the hips/butt segment. I am trying to work up to doing the kneeling parts of the other segments though.
I have just ordered 'Callanetics', which is everything all together in a longer workout, in case I have <snicker> free time for that...
Pros for Quick Callanetics:
1) each segment is only 20 minutes. Also, in the beginning I put it at 2x speed because I cant do any of the exercises for the entire time at normal speed.
2) gentle and easy to modify for any personal issues. She also tells you what NOT to do, so you stay on track (eg, sometimes it's don't lean forward, or don't round your back)
Cons:
1) she talks very slowly, and it is a VERY low key DVD - no adrenaline boost from bouncy music
2) it is very dated (80's). I don't mind at all, but most of the negative reviews on Amazon were because of the 80's garb, decoration and hair styles. (IMO, if the exercises work they could all be dressed like chickens!)
Anyone have any personal experience with Callanetics?
