Default Lack of motivation

I am really hopeless with exercise. I start off strong and then somewhere on the journey I just lose energy and motivation.

I have even made a plan to start really low intensity and then to add on more little by little, but I just can't stick with it long enough.


Advice needed!

As I wait in the doctor office the only advise I can give that works for me is find an activity you enjoy (maybe 2 if u have seasons) and do a lot of it. Then if u need to improve your performance at these, exercise can take on meaning, have purpose and joy.

Excersize for excersize sake is a dead end for me. Some can do it. Some can't.

Sounds like me. So many years I paid money to go to a gym or classes and just never went. Even now, my Medicare Advantage Plan pays for free gym membership and I don't go.

Okay so this long story isn't funny and isn't getting anywhere fast. The short version is that I invested $40 in a Fitbit Zip Tracker. All it did was count my steps and I aimed for the 10,0000. That did it for me.

I think it has been 3 years now that every morning Frodo and I are out the door by 4am and I've clocked at least 1400 miles per year, only counting the morning walks. I have no idea why the switch went to the "on" position, but that is what works for me.

What are you hoping to achieve with your exercise? If it's weight loss, the LCHF diet itself is the main driver of that in my experience.

As someone who still finds any sort of sustained physical movement challenging - with the exception of walking - my current aim with exercise is just to settle on a routine that's simple enough to make me want to come back tomorrow and do it again.

Perhaps for you too it's just a matter of finding that sustainable level and getting into the routine of maintaining that first before pushing too hard?

I just finished reading "Eat Bacon, Don't Jog" by Grant Petersen.
He has a very simple message - short intense bursts of energy + walking + stop sitting so much. I'm inspired by all the books and blogs like this that DE-emphasize excessive exercise. I t makes getting fit and strong seem so much more do-able!

I see that Eat Bacon, Don't Jog is only 1.99 for the Kindle version. I will definitely check it out!

I joined my colleagues to play futsal. I'm thankful that I had these young, hot blooded youths who are foreign workers like me who didn't have to spend time with family or go shopping. And better still, they are very good in the sport. I've been training to get their stamina, it's been long enough that they ridicule my fat body and weak stamina. Let's show to them we can do it too.
