Was it just 1 syrup or a mix of 2?

Just plain old caramel. I don't have butterscotch, but caramel kind of reminds me of it.

I'm convinced they must use gums in a lot of the fast food shakes because using xanthan gum my shakes resemble the ones at fast food restaurants quite often. Thick and very smooth.

I still need to procure some stuff, but I'd like to start the shakes soon.

Cmon over to the 6week cure thread

And update us with how it's going!

We're trying to focus this one mostly on shake *flavors* I think.

I can't stop thinking about Nancy's caramel shake...mmm..

I remember... Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream from Baskin Robbins. Chocolate with caramel. About my favorite all time flavor. I might try to recreate that although really, how can ya? It was the ribbons of sticky caramel that made it special.

If you mixed the cocoa powder and carmel syrup together, yeah, it wouldn't be the same. But what if you made one chocolate shake and one caramel shake and then took alternating sips?!

Well, just in time for the end of my shakes, my flavorings arrived. I got butterscotch, english toffee, chocolate mint, key lime, strawberry, orange, rum. They all taste really good so far!

Flavorings or Davinci's. I would love a key lime. Did I miss a post?

Citrus posted a link to a place with a bunch of flavorings earlier in the thread.

They're great! But, you have to be careful not to use too much or it will be overpowering and distort the flavors.

The shake I'm drinking right now is very good:

plain or vanilla protein
vanilla syrup
cocoa powder
ancho chile powder
a small amount of Ceylon cinnamon
a tiny bit of powdered ginger
a tiny bit of cardamom

Another good one was imitating Baskin-Robbins Jamocha almond fudge ice cream, but I may have gotten the idea from someone here:

plain or vanilla protein
coffee extract
cocoa powder
a tiny bit of almond extract

The "flavor powders" from Barry Farms that I referenced earlier in the thread turned out to be flavorless. Don't buy them.

About 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. I usually add and taste and keep adding until I like the taste.

I think some flavors are better than others. For example, I really like the coconut but don't care for the peach.
