Default What to eat on induction for shiftwork?

Well, Mrs. Danbo is about to start a low carb diet for a while to drop a few ... but she works in a hospital during the nightshift and has only a 1/2-hour for lunch. She's wondering what she might do for a low carb lunch. She has access to micro and they have a fridge, but that's about it. Any suggestions?

WEll, make lots of extra servings at your meal times at home, 1/2 hour is'nt enough to eat a big tuna salad. Make sure you have a good portion of protien, like a chicken breast, or meat loaf/ and some steamed veggies, you can plop some butter on. Things that you can just pop in the microwave.
I always take some sliced raw jiamca to work with me, it's like eating an apple very crunchy.

Cheers Kathy

I like to bring salads to work. You can also eat deli meats and cheeses pretty easily. Leftovers are great as well.

I like getting those little Glad or Ziploc plastic throw away tupperware containers and reusing them. They even have dinner tray styles for leftovers.

Actually, JMakeupLC, I'm Danbo, quite Male.

Mrs. Danbo is a very attractive brunette who is not registered with this forum, and she is looking into LC after watching me lose my 30 pounds so far. But thanks for your concern.

I work 12-hr nightshift at a hospital and several other of the girls are also LC'ing. We do a lot of fixing ahead....I tend to bring my salad for then....a chef's salad with plenty - make that LOTS - of meat...We are lucky, though, that our lounge is near the nurse's station...so, being the secretary, I can slip in frequently and grab a string cheese or whatever...and the nurses can also stop in for a quick snack....except on THOSE nights where no one gets to eat anything...LOL

Night shift hospital worker here, too!

I do the salad thing most times. I keep an ice cream bucket or a large ziploc in my home fridge filled with shredded romaine and spinach mixed, a bag of grated cheese, bacon bits... So I grab a tupperware container and throw in a couple of handfuls of salad, some grated cheese and bacon, cucumber, anything that catches my eye really and some cooked chicken breast, steak or pork cubed and put in there, too. Then, in a tiny container measure your dressing (I usually do equal parts LC dressing and sunflower oil) and take that. Celery sticks in a ziploc, cucumber slices, cheese sticks, SF jello cup (Splenda). See, lots of ideas. Of course, leftovers are great, too.

Nicole

Coleslaw or broccolislaw with LC dressing and sliced cold chicken breast on the side--yum!!
