Default Effects of sugar on Ketosis

Yesterday was my sons birthday. I had great intentions of staying strict LC, but it didn't happen that way. I ate meat, cheese, 5 crackers with the LC spinach dip and a butt load of fruit. The worst offending fruits too, grapes and oranges. Did it do me any harm? I don't know, since I ate it all with meat, there were no heart palpations and I never felt my blood sugar spike. Later in the evening my tummy got a very unconfortable bloat going on. I did not eat any cake or ice cream, probably my saving grace. Any residual effects? No cravings this morning, I had a piece of Pizza Quiche for breakfast, no cravings at the moment. Am I in ketosis? No idea, I've been sick so my mouth is thick and nasty anyway, no way of knowing. I was in ketosis for several weeks before this though.

My tummy bloat is still there but not as unconfortable and not quite as bloated. Defanitely need to avoid the fruit and crackers.

Anyones thoughts of what excessive amounts of fruit and a few crackers will do to a person? Throw me out of ketosis? Whats the bloat from? Would 5 crackers cause bloat? Is it possible for fruit to bloat me?

I'm actually intrested to see if yesterdays fruit attack effects me and causes cravings or if fruit doesn't really bother me at all. By the way I'm feeling now, I don't think it bothers me. I'm thinking its the refined sugar that gets to me, calls me by name and all that.

Yup, 5 crackers could cause bloat.

I had such tremendous bloat from ONE low carb wrap I went gluten free. That was my clue.

It was my eldests birthday this week and I was full of good intentions also. Didn't have fruit but did have a piece of cake some ice cream and an Indian . My belly feels like a balloon and I can Barley walk with the pain in my legs. Haven't noticed any cravings yet.

I know that's no help to you, however, I do sympathise.

I'd suspect the wheat in the crackers. The carbs will also throw you out of ketosis for at couple days.

No cravings as of yet, and I'm baking sugar cookies right now I sappose time will tell with the cravings, how long I will be out of ketosis is a question we will never have an anser too. Would, say 100 carbs, spread out throught the day kick me out of ketosis?

My pants are looser around the middle now, so the bloat is going down. I peed alot this morning, obviousely getting the sugar out. I feel fine, my ring isn't even tight.

Most people can eat somewhere between 20 and 50 carbs daily to stay in ketosis. For a lucky few, it may be 100. I wouldn't worry too much about whether you're in or out, just do your best to get back on track - and stay there - as quickly as you can.

My concern is cravings and I will be happy if I don't start binging again. As long as I don't start binging I am one happy woman. I spent 3.5 weeks binge free, not neccisarily in ketosis the whole time. I have a hunch there were a couple of days around Thanksgiving I wasn't in. Even LC foods have carbs and they do add up.

The party was Saturday, today is Tuesday, and I am still craving free. I don't think the fruit caused any cravings or for me to rush off in a panick to find junk food.

Last night we iced those cookies, I wanted to lick the icing off my finger but I stopped myself. When I got done, I washed up reall good and as soon as the icing was dry the cookies were put away. Theres also ice cream left over and still in the house, at this point, neither bother me. BF said they were going to finish the ice cream tonight after supper. Most of the cookies are going to go to the farm, I don't need extra temptations. That can make a bad day go terribly wrong.
