Are there any LCers here from Nebraska?
Would you be interested in starting some sort of support group?

I started 5/31 and am down 11 lbs in 10 days!!!

I did this before but regained over 3 years. Now that I am losing so fast I keep wondering why I didn't do this sooner.

I in Columbus all last weekend, which is kind of by you, right?

Keep in touch

Nevermind- Columbus is North of 80. I do know where York is. My husband is a NE native and usually knows where the smaller towns are.

Plattsmouth is about 20 miles south of Omaha. It got it's weird name because this is where the Platte joins the Missouri River. Hence the mouth of the Platte.

I LCed 2 years ago, with REALLY great success. Back then I started at 185 and got down to & maintained 155. Also back then the Atkins bars didn't cause me to stall & I found a fairly cheap source of supply of them. Then Oct. '05 I had some crisis events in my life and also some men making sexual remarks (which being newly divorced, I ABSOLUTELY did not like & told them so, but they still wouldn't stop). So I decided, the H____ with it. I went on a 3 month binge, eat junk food I had never eaten in my life. Gained 45 lbs. Felt horrible, had to buy clothes bigger than those I was wearing when I started on LC 2 years prior, etc. So I got back on LC in about March. Unfortunately, it's harder. And Atkins bars seem to cause me to stall, plus that supplier no longer carries them, so they aren't within my budget.
DD didn't start until - I think it was about the 1st of May. I think Dr. may have had more influence in convincing her to give it a try, than I did - LOL! But I'm really happy for her that she also really likes it - it's not a diet, it's a WOE that makes a person FEEL better. Looking better is just an added bennefit!
Do you have others in the family to cook for? Are they eating LC too, or do you have to cook carb foods? Either way, this forum has some really good recipes that spouses don't necessarily realize is LC!
Good luck to you.

Wow huskerchick, you are doing great. Almost to goal.

Cats, you are doing well also. My husband has only maybe 15-20 lbs to lose, so he is trying south beach. So, our family meals are atkins with south beach sides added in for DD and the kids. But, my 16 yr old is trying to gain 20 lbs before football, so he is loading up on everything not lowcarb as well.

talk to you soon!

Okay, so far we have:
No Cheatin in Plattsmuth on M&E
Huskerchic in Lnc on Atkins
PitViper19 in Lnc on Atkins
Catsrus in Geneva on Atkins
Cats' DD (who hasn't posted here yet, so I won't automatically make the assumption that she wants to) in Lnc on SBD.

5 of us! I go to Lnc quite a bit. So yeah, if NoCheatin let's us know when she's going there; maybe we could have a 'Big Red LC party'!!!

I'm on a number of forums & it seems like there's never anyone else from NE on them. And of course if there's get-togethers, they never have them out here in the midwest. So it would be fun.

Are any of you in any challenge groups?
I joined the summer slimdown one. So just signed up for Leslie Sansone's walk club (another forum) as I know a big part of my not losing this time around is that I'm just not motivated to exercise. By the time I do a little yardwork, housework, etc - I'm more motivated to chat online & head to bed. So I'm HOPING Leslie can help me!
Good luck all. Try & check in here & share a little so we get to know each other before our get to gether. Okay?

That sounds GREAT............!! I would be "in" for sure !

I work for the State in the State Office Building in downtown Lincoln. I am single (with a significant other of a TON of years), 41, and have 2 dogs.

I enjoy reading and step aerobics, and HUSKER football and baseball.

Currently, I am not in any challenge groups. My favorite low carb food is CHICKEN WINGS !!!

Hey cats, I just bought the walk away the pounds dvd at WM last nite. I have done it 2x (the 1 mile). I can ALMOST make it thru with weights. I also went to amazon and ordered a 3 pack of LS dvds including the abs one which I really need. There is a walk away the pounds thread that is great

I am doing the lose 20 by July 4 (3 to go)
2 week vacation challenge

I am looking for more challenges to get me going...

A get together in lincoln sounds good. I may be there for the cornhusker state games sometime in July as my 13 and 16 yr olds are both competing in the waterski event (in Syracuse I think). I think there is a parade in Lincoln, but I don't know details yet.
