Default Back On Track...

Well, my day of craziness is over. My only low-carb things I ate today were bacon and eggs this morning and then antipasto salad for dinner. Otherwise, I totally indulged on junk ... It was good. Not super good. Looking forward to get back on track tomorrow!

Good that you're getting back on tomorrow....
but...there's always a butt ...

Why are you waiting for tomorrow and not the rest of the day (unless you're thru eating for the day?)

and...

if it was good, but not super good, would you eat it again?

Just asking

Progress not perfection.

Lisa

I am back on track today too. I ate some delicious food yesterday but much of it was not low carb, but I still don't think I did horrible. Unfortunately, I had stomach cramps last night so my body was telling me it was not used to all that. The dinner food we had wasn't high carb at all, but I had a brownie, few cookies, half slice of key lime pie with it.

Everything in moderation I think is fine, as long as people can control it. Taking into to many carbs ie sweets can be addictive. Me I went off plan for two days and I am back on now. I probably will take a few days off around new years. Variety keeps me going...

I honestly did not want to eat anything other than what I normally eat LC each day, but with 4 different Christmas meals (2 lunches and 2 dinners), and 2 families which absolutely can only make incredibly high carb food, I really had to be picky.

It's the one thing I really don't like about this lifestyle -- honestly. Unless the whole world eats like this, or you live on an island by yourself, there is no way around it some times.

I am actually in charge each year of making certain typical Italian dishes -- it's a tradition and I am not going to change it just because of ONE person (me) -- and trust me when I say, no one there wanted to eat Calli pizza or spaghetti squash. As a result, I did actually eat some pasta etc., but the big difference was my portions. I simply ate very little of the high carb stuff and concentrated instead on veggies, cheeses, wild game and other stuff. I never eat sweats so that was easy... and left it to everyone else.

All in all, even on Atkins, in certain rare situations like this I move towards moderation and portion size when I simply cannot say no to 30 people and don't want to be the kill-joy of the evening. Easy peasy. Been doing it for years now and I think i am the only one that come New years, has actually lost 1 or 2 LBS.

I do cook high carb or LC when others come and visit to please them , but I stick to my own food plan, I am not willing to destroy my health and the good work I have done for the sake of being the jolly fun person in someone else's eyes.... I can't believe all Italian food is about pasta and pizza, I know they have a lot of fatty meat/fish dishes, you could have prepared one for yourself and left the pasta for others who don't care for their health.... if having the dinner at someone else's place, just offer to bring your own food, if eating at a public restaurant, I usually eat loads before going, so if there is nothing for me to eat, I am not even tempted to go off plan.

Totally back on track today. Got up this morning to bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese, had some antipasto salad for lunch and having burgers and more salad for dinner. Yes, the goodies are staring me right in the face until tomorrow when I will give them out to the homeless people around my work, but it's not a temptation I can't fight.

For the past two weeks at work, everyone has bringing in treats, home baked goods. I was not once tempted by any of it, and I think everyone was proud of me. They all know how much weight I have lost since June. But I did have some pizza this week. I love pizza and altho there are alternatives to crust, none are as good, to me anyways. Back on plan like I didnt miss a beat, and I am not worried in the lease how my weight is doing. Down 16lbs for the month of Dec taking a little break will not hurt me at all.

I have challanged myself to be under 200 by the end of May, to coincide with the final of Biggest loser. That will be a loss of about 90lbs...

I too indulged yesterday for the holiday. Unfortunately for me the overindulgence did not cause any kind of gastro-intestinal distress. I've been eating this way since 2004. For me this has to be a WOL, and that includes indulging on a holiday.

I do NOT use any excuse to eat high carbs. In fact I am almost religious about following my WOE, but as I said this has to be a lifetime for me and that includes the holiday of Christmas for me and my family.

I enjoyed every second of it, and I'm happy to say I'm back on plan today. Bacon and eggs for breakfast. I also went to the gym and practiced RPM.

I had more carbs than usual, just a few bites of potatoes, tastes of what I was cooking, etc.
What I did get into was sugar free chocolates. They are SO good! I must have had 100 to 150 carbs between Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.
Today I said I have to lay off the candy, and so far so good. Had a low carb breakfast & a big lunch, not hungry for dinner. All in all a pretty successful holiday.

This is so much the way I feel about doing lc for life. I'm still in the losing phase, but every year my daughter and I make iced sugar cookies. They're beautiful and tasty and we've been doing it for generations. It's a tradition I will continue. I will have one or two, and then move on, just as I did this year. But, the difference is - I don't see this as an excuse for a carb fest and go all out with every kind of carb available. I see it as one of very few treats I will have all year. I plan the cookie ahead of time, tied to a meal, so it doesn't raise my blood sugar as much as if I ate it by itself.
