Lowish carb (50 net grams), high fibre, high monounsaturated fats(good ones), and "pharma foods" such as yogurt, kefir, nuts, etc.
I have been struggling with Atkins to get enough fibre and calcium, so I just love this diet.
It used to be called the Go diet. I am surprised it hasn't caught on better than it has.

Default four corners/go

I've been doing my version of the GO Diet for a couple of years. I don't agree with everything in the book, and it isn't fast weight loss at all, but I think it's a very healthy way to go. A similar book with better recipes is the Inflammation Syndome by JAck Chattem.

i love GO dieting. i did not lose on atkins. it's funny that GO increased my carbs and i lost weight. i think it is much healthier since my skin is better and, of course, bodily functions. speaking of that; i do have trouble with the fiber and am not taking any other than what's in the diet right now. not a big deal since my vegies and a little fruit are much higher than before. yogurt is one of the only things i've continued to miss on lc lifestyles...so i am happy. oh and i love raw almonds.

I was GO many years ago and still have the original book.
One thing i did that made those bran recipes (pancake) better was to grind the bran into 'flour' in my magic bullet type appliance.
The reason I stopped is because it was too much fiber and the bran stuff gave me heartburn.
It is probably my all time fav plan, though, and I may ease into it again.
I still consume some cultured milk daily.

Could someone post the basic rules to the GO Diet? I am not finding much information on the 'net.

http://www.lowcarb.ca/atkins-diet-a...ns/go-diet.html

There's sort of a description on this site.

Quote:
Method: The Go-Diet emphasizes low carbohydrate, no calorie counting, normal amounts of protein, high monounsaturated fats with reduction in saturated fats and encourages increased fibre and natural nutrient intake. Allowance is 50 grams carbohydrate with no more than 12-15 grams net at each meal. Fiber grams are deducted to produce net carbs. Monounsaturated fats should constitute at least 50% of the daily fat intake.

I've seen the odd person on this forum who has trouble with hypoglycemia after eating a very low carb meal. Maybe for some people, a small addition of carbohydrate will actually make hypoglycemia less likely?

so how's it going?

i have my books and am playing w the recipes....eliminated the nuts from the pancake since too many cause me cold sores and w grinding the bran, there's no need for more filler.

i'm planning to try a bread and maybe use a bit of coconut flour in place of soy or whey protein.

i never tried bran for filler in say, meat loaf/balls, etc but may give it a crack. the salmon patties sound good.
also never tried it for dredging....

again grinding it to flour texture is key for me since the flakes seem so....flaky!

keep us posted.

for anyone who visits this post again; as i said, i have both books but never kept 4 Corners handy.
i recently unpacked it and realized that it is 100+ pages more of fluff.
the GO-diet is about 100 pages of basic info.

both books have similar recipes (not many) but the changes made for 4 Corners were really not an improvement.
it's better to just use low carb recipes increasing fiber.

there are just a couple recipes from GO that i have continued using. and as i said, i grind the bran to flour texture.

so since both books are out of print, i say, google and buy the cheapest one.
i prefer GO but you may need the x tra info. most seasoned lc'ers will not.
