Hi,

Apologies if this is a repeat of other posts, but I didn't find anything on a quick search of the program and a scan back of several pages.

The e-book looks interesting, but the marketing is so hyped and commercialized that it makes me question the credibility of the program and the author. I think the ideas are sound and important, at least from what I can tell--but I'm looking for objective opinions from people who are not financially linked with this program.

Any insight appreciated.

Kathleen,

I'm about a third of the way through the book and it makes a lot of sense to me. A friend emailed me the book last week. Keep in mind that Venuto is coming from a body building background so if you have some predisposed conceptions about weight lifting it may affect how you take in the information. I've been lifting hard for several months. I've made a lot of strength gains while continuing to eat low-carb. I've only recently added in a few extra carbs in the form of oat meal and or a protein berry smoothie.

I think his concepts are well thought out and backed up with research as well as his own experience as a trainer and coach. It's well worth the read. But you must buy-in to the "exercise is an important component of your weight loss" journey. If you are one of the diet only/non exercise believers you may not get much out of the book.

Thanks, Cleve--this is exactly the kind of feedback that I'm looking for.

I've lost weight using a regular workout routine, and I've lost it not exercising--so as to whether it's vital or not, that point can, I suppose, be argued. But as I lose weight, I feel more like moving and using my body.

The thought hit me recently when I saw a pound drop on the scale, "Yes, but a pound of what?" Which I think is my own way of telling me it's time to ramp it up. I have no preconceived notions against weight training, and I think it can be fun and satisfying (with the caveat that some people have done their joints and tendons harm by going about it the wrong way.)

I am also starting to aspire to more than just being able to `pass as normal'--I'd like to be one of those people that have an amazing physique, strong muscles, that `coiled spring' quality of latent energy, vibrancy--at least to the extent that I am able.

Good to hear that you are finding value in the program but still staying LC.

BTW, absolutely fantastic job with the weight loss. Congratulations on your success.
