Default Daily Weigh In Part 2

Well the other journal or thread has been closed since it had a lot of posts. So I figured I would start a new one for the few of us who weigh in daily. If there are more who do this, please feel free to join!

So here we are again, the morning. I must say it is an awesome one too!

184.6 today!

Not bad weight loss for an old woman who started this around the 7th or so of January! I am feeling hope!

Noell: It sure felt like I ate the whole ship!

263 today. Since I am kicking in the weight training to high gear, my body will be fighting me for a bit. =)

Down to 262.6 this morning. But better news is that I have dropped .5% body fat since the 20th of Feb! So, my weight has gone up, but my body fat has gone down. 8)
I do need to eat more calories though, so more turkey and a fruit should do it!

great Quantum
136.5 today..yuck. I woke up "feeling thinner" and was disappointed. Maybe water weight? I hope so. I made some baby food last night and had some slices of apples and pears.
Thanks LA, I should keep a journal to keep me on track. But I am a nibbler..a bite of something here and there. I do eat a lot of light string cheese and bocca burgers. I love bocca burgers with some mushrooms, fat free chedder cheese and light mayo.
Lately I haven't had much fruit or veggies which I need to work on. I will have little nibbles of chocolate though! I think not eating the crackers, pretzels and those kind of simple carbs has helped. I am going to up the exercise too.

Anniston, fitday.com is a great site for keeping track via logging and journal.

A method I have tried recently, is to keep a running mental tally of what I eat, rounding things up.
If something is 140 kcal a serving, I mentally say 150. And so on.
If I am uncertain how much something is, like an orange, which I know can be between 65 and 100 kcal, I just assume it is 100 kcal. This way I shoot down my tendency to underestimate what I eat.
So far it is working doing this, and is much simpler than logging everything.
It also makes me more mindful of what I am eating, since I do this calorie tally before I eat whatever it is I am about to eat.
I also eat what I want, when I want. But first I make sure I want it, and that I know what it will do to me, and what I have to do to make up for the damage.
For some reason that really works for me, taking that 60 seconds to consider before I eat.
It makes me less guilty about eating that chocolate, and then I can enjoy the chocolate without thinking I have to pig out because I will punish myself in the future by never eating chocolate again. Also, 80% of the time, after that 60 seconds of thought, I will take half of what I was going to eat, or replace it with a healthier option.

Keep up the good work! You reached your profile goal, and have kept it within about 1% wiggle! And don't be surprised if your weight fluctuates a bit more when you start exercising. You will increase your fluid retention in your muscles in order to repair the tissues, bring nutrients to the muscles and flush waste away. Plus your body will try and figure things out, and when it is hit with a new stimulus, a natural response is to hold water in tissues in case it is needed to transport hormones, and other products around!
I bet after one month of consistent training you will be so happy with what you see!

Oh, as to getting more fruit and veggies each day:
I have a policy of having a "Weird ass fruit of the day!" every day. I even blog about it sometimes.

Every day, I stop at the grocery store (or a local ethnic market) and choose one weird ass fruit to eat that day.
I ate an Ugli fruit on Monday, a baby coconut on Tuesday (Yes, it is a seed...), a jack fruit Wed and tonight I will get a star fruit.

It is fun, and a way to sample fruits I would never otherwise eat! And I plan to extend this to exotic vegetables as well. After I get through the fruits in my stores, I will try prepairing them in different ways.

=)

Thanks Quantum for all the great advice. It certainly helps to get tips from other people!
Changing weight goal to 133 then once I hit that will change to 130 and then the challenge will be to maintain.
I like the fruit "game" , sounds fun
It really does help to take the time before you eat something to figure out if its really what you want and if its the best choice...most of the time I put it back!
