It seems some people don't really CARE if it's safe or not, they just want to lose faster at any cost.

This is a concern of mine as well, potatofree. While there's nothing wrong with wanting to lose that next 10 pounds at record pace (who doesn't?), engaging in extreme tactics to achieve it may come at a price that later doesn't seem quite so attractive. What price? Well...slower weight loss, more frequent stalls, lowered metabolism, having to cut calories lower to keep the weight loss going for starters.
I don't know...lose 10 pounds really fast and then have to work like he** to lose the next 60...doesn't sound like a great tradeoff to me....

well for people in a stall they are going to have to work hard to lose the 60 pounds anyway...so why not do a fast lose the 10...and then only worry about having to lose 50....and just because you do a fast doesnt mean you wont lose when you come off of it...you just have to know how to properly do it

Nikki, most people who do this are not in a true stall (defined as no loss of pounds OR inches for a period of 4-6 weeks), but are just being impatient. Even in your own instance, you were losing but just wanted to lose faster.
If someone is honestly stalled (and has tried all other possibilities first such as checking calories, excercising, getting checked for possible medical problems, cutting out the frankenfoods, etc...), then I have no problem with them using a stall buster for a few days to get things going but I see a lot more abuse of these types of tactics than legitimate use here on the forum, IMO.
