Default Low carb pasta, rice and noodles

Hi all

On a whim I popped my head around the door of a Holland & Barrett the other day.

They are now selling a range of "Slim Pasta" and "Slim Rice" packs from the Eat Water range, and also "Zero Noodles" packs.

They're marketed as low calorie, but they're also pretty much zero carbs as well.

Has anyone got any experience of these products?

With these ingredients
Quote:
Ingredients: Water, Juroat (Konjac flour and special oat fibre), E526, E171
they might be worth trying once you are including grains in your food options.

Not sure if a portion size of 100g would be satisfying though - perhaps if added to a meat heavy sauce it would be nice.

I noticed they have all their "slim jim" products on half price sale, so probably are getting ready to discontinue them, so if you do like them maybe stock up as they will have a fairly long shelf life I imagine

As for how they taste - many people say the ones available in the USA made from a mix of glucomannan (konjac) and soya flour do taste like "real" pasta, so these might be nice.
I have only tried the pure konjac ones and that felt like eating rubber bands!!

HA! Yes, they do have an acquired taste, but for 0 carbs and 0 calories, I dry them very well and then mix with my other ingredients.

I've gotten quite used to them. As a matter of fact, I am on their Miracle Noodle Club and receive auto shipments of the rice, angelhair pasta, and fettuccine. They remind me of the Chinese Chow Fun noodles.

I just rinse the be....out of mine and love them. I need to get on auto shipments too. I love the rice and fettucini noodles, and they have a new one (so excited) - ziti! I have an order of those coming

I eat miracle noodles in some form 1-2 times per day at least 5 days a week.

I think they're one of the best inventions. I like the fettuccine in stir-fry. I also like them in Shrimp Carbonara and Alfredo sauce over steak.

I use the rice to make Puerto Rican rice and olives. Lots of garlic, too.

I have tried both the organic Zero Noodles and the Eat Water range from Holland & Barrett, as well as the Slendier organic range from Australia, sold by Ocado. The Slendier range seems marginally less like rubber bands steeped in tuna water. The fettucine is the best IMO. I found I put on weight, I guess my body didn't believe that fake pasta made from a root veg, was carb free !

Be careful with those low carb noodle made with flour. Dreamfields company had a huge lawsuit against them. Some companies lie to make a buck and the public suffers for it.

I'd stick to the tried and true miracle noodles and leave the new one with the oat flour. That's risky eating.
