I have temporarily removed my fitbit. I am sure I will put it back on eventually. I like to see how I behave when I am not wearing it. I believe in the importance of exercise but sometimes I think I am becoming too obsessed with how many steps I walk. Fitbit has been a good motivator for me but I don't want it taking over my life so I'm trying to find a balance.

Interesting, Jean. I know I am a lot less inclined to move unless I am wearing my pedometer, to the point where I feel a little undressed without it. It certainly motivates me to take more steps, even on the days when I'm feeling under par.

So I wish you well with your experiment, and whether or not you ever replace it, I hope you stay well and find the right balance.

Thanks Roz. My Fitbit has been very motivating for me. It feels odd not to have it on but I want to see if I continue to walk every day without it. I am so familiar with the routes I take that I know how far I have walked and approximately how many steps and even when I am not focused on steps I feel something is missing when I don't walk. This is an experiment to see whether walking has become such a habit that I don't have to pay as much attention to it.

Just checking in. I've lowered my expectations, but still walk every day.
My Fitbit stats say between March 16, 2016 and March 17, 2017 I walked 746.88 miles. (only measuring the morning walk) Sometimes I forget to strap on my Charge HR, so maybe I've walked a few more miles, but that'll do. I average between 35 and 40K steps per week.

Still in excellent health.
Approaching 72 years on the Planet.
No medications other than my hormone, and I'm proud to have kept this up steadily for three years.

I discovered why rebounding feels so hard. All it takes to register on the pedometer is a "health bounce" where your feet do not leave the mat, rather than the vigorous jumping I was doing. The gentler movement seems closer in effort to walking, but feels a little like cheating!
