Hi veg low-carbers! I thought I'd share this wrap I've been trying. It is really good with a spread (I like a jalapeno-artichoke-parmesan one my grocer sells), any kind of cheese, spinach leaves, and whatever else I have on hand: avocado, cucumber, and sometimes a veggie patty. It doesn't taste like much by itself, but it holds all my yummy fillings in well and is easy to transport since it doesn't need refrigeration. I think it has 3 net carbs, which is fine unless you're very carb-sensitive.

GemWraps Tomato Sandwich Wrap (You can buy on Amazon but wasn't sure if I'm allowed to post a link).

This sounds good -- I am enticed to do more with faux wraps: lettuce or cabbage, or maybe something with grated chees and grated zuccini made into a tostada...

Default LC veggie & dairy fats for health

I am a kidney patient, with failing function,so while I was doing a LDHF diet ( little red meat or meat at all) mostly eggs, dairy, lot of veggies anyway, so I am here to learn more.

Supposedly I need to lower my protein MORE, and take amino supplements-done. BUT DAIRY is forbidden on some VLPro..and I love my butter, cheese, cheese,HWC, s cream and full fat yogurt.

I am seeing a Naturapahtic Doc soon-from 2010 who helped me when I had kidney cancer then, (no cancer now, am fine) now with one wonky kidney I must really follow a diet that does NOT strain the kidney at all, and since it is a life issue, I am dedicated to do what I must.

I looked at HEMP protein, but then saw a few people post online they had kidney problems with it. Hemp is the ONLY veggie food that DOES have all the needed amino acids..so it seems perfect..but ?

A too low protein diet starts to 'waste' your muscles..esp. the heart, and you can die as some anorexic girls do on <300 calorie diets. BUT if you balance the aminos you can do well, and eat all the veggies, brown rice, etc. There are nutritional products you can buy, but I thought Hemp might be ideal!

So I am researching like crazy, have some emails out to some experts Dr. Attia, Dr. Fung and www.kidneycoach.com asking of help to understand HOW to improve function, and what to eat.

Not a very lively section of the forum.

I'm a vegetarian low-carber now, lol, just experimenting the diet, seeing what it is like since my wife is doing that (far less carbs for her though). My problem is not to loose weight, so right now I'm just going to stick to the 80-100 carbs per day amount.
I find I can digest better, evidently when we simplify the chemistry of a meal digestion is enhanced.
Also, since I'm not using artificial sweeteners, now my sense of sweet has gotten much sharper. Almonds, hazelnuts, butter, coconut butter are sweet to me. Even 99% chocolate tastes sweet. I can barely believe that!

Default Very Quiet

Seems pretty quiet around these parts...... I’ve been mostly lurking while I try to get myself and my eating habits together. I have been eating vegetarian for awhile now but not low carb and I have gained a ton of weight. I need motivation to lose weight and I’m trying to figure out a vegetarian low carb plan that I can follow.

I'm a vegetarian too. Over the years I obviously overindulged on the pasta, rice and bread hehe

No more! I started out on Atkins Induction eating the 20g of carbs a day including fish, tofu and eggs. I've since switched to sticking to under 35g of Carbs a day in conjunction with Intermittant Fasting. There's a ton of helpful diet tips and discussions here. Welcome

Hi bluej!! Yes I have definitely over indulged on pasta too, and now I’m trying to remind myself that I’m a vegetarian so I need plants, not pasta! I looked into the Eco-Atkins diet but it seemed to be too many carbs for me. I’m going to try cutting back on the whole grains a bit and eating more eggs, tofu, cheese, and I do eat fish.

Checking in with any veggie low carbers hanging around. Any new meals to try or tips to share?

I am recently back on the LC plan as I know it's the only thing that works well for me. I wanted to share a tip: use Great Lakes or Trim Healthy Mama collagen in your coffee (if you're not averse to using an animal product). It dissolves completely and provides protein as well as health benefits.

On the meal side, I have not been very creative. I ate cottage cheese for dinner last night.
