The Mainstream Fear of Fats
So I'm on another message board with a bunch of moms.
There was a poll. The question was, would you steal to feed your children?
The forum broke out into a heated, off-tangent debate (as they do) about the sort of nutrition one can purchase for $1. When someone mentioned ramen noodles, someone else pointed out the fat content in them and how she could do much better with beans/rice than give her child anything with added fat in them. Some were further horrified to discover that others prepare beans with a fatty meat. (I ask in aside, is that how low-fat works? Unflavored beans and rice with no oil or butter? Gah.)
So there ya have it folks, even under starvation conditions, there are some that would go to great lengths to avoid added fats. Starvation. Child starvation, in particular.
It's kind of a scary world out there.
