It's unfortunate what has happened to the housing market in so many areas. Although PA. prices seemed very high to us when we moved back here 10 years ago from Ohio, much of Pa. is a bargain, when you compare it to the New York, DC metropolitan area. I live a few miles from the Army War College and we get a lot of career military families who retire here because they fell in love with the area- and the prices- when they were at the War College. A lot of people come up from DC for the trout fishing in my little town, because it is apparently jumpin' with trout! We have a little spring fed lake in the center of the village that never freezes, but stays at a constant 58 degrees from the deep springs that feed it. The Appalachian Trail runs right along the edge of the lake. At Christmas time, the lake is rimmed with lighted luminaires, and Santa comes across the lake in a rowboat, rowed by his elves, to give candy to the kids, while the high school band plays carols. It's nice to live in a small town!

Besides you can look at town names like Bird in Hand and Jim Thorpe -how charming is that??

Plus Virginville and Intercourse ( really )... I lived in Virginville for a while.

I met someone at a CPE class that used to live in Penn.
He said there were water problems in York (high sulfur) so to check the water quality before you move.

I want to visit - maybe in late September, go to a couple of towns and visit Gettysburg.
