HOME AGAIN AT LAST!!! It's been so long, I had a hard time even finding my last post here to copy and paste!

(Jan 1: 201)
(Feb 1: 199)
(Mar 1: 194)
(Apr 1: 191)
(May 1: 190)
(Jun 1: 186)
(Jul 1: 183)
(Aug 1: 179)
(Sep 1: 179)

10/01: DNW
10/02: DNW
10/03: DNW
10/04: 174
10/05: 174
10/06 to 10/23 ... DNW. Dealing with family issues out of town
10/24: 174

So I managed to maintain despite no scale, totally haphazard meals, tons of stress, plus living out of a suitcase for the past 2.5 weeks! Feeling pretty proud of myself. Surviving the past two months of my life without going on a carb binge tells me I really CAN do this for life.

Got MIL buried and then flew straight to NC to deal with Dad and step-mother again. With me running interference for him (explaining to staff why he was unhappy...why he can't/won't do that for himself I do NOT know!) he has decided that the place he and stepmother are currently living is okay after all. Actually, the staff has bent over backwards to be helpful. It is NOT easy with her in the secured Alzheimer's wing and him out in the general population area and constantly wanting to spend time with her. Especially since, when he starts to leave to go back to his room, she wants to go with him so that it breaks his heart all over again to leave her. But, I helped him work out some non-verbal ways to cue the staff in the Alzheimer's wing that HE was reaching the end of his strength and now they know that when that happens, one of them needs to come get HER and talk her into going off with them to do some activity so that he can then slip quietly away without tearful demands from her that he take her home with him. Hopefully, as staff turns over -because there is ALWAYS a constant turnover of staff in such places - older staff will cue the newer ones on how to deal with him and her. So, fingers-crossed, Dad will remain reasonably happy and I won't have to make another trip out there for a couple of months at least.

While I haven't had time yet to catch up with all of you, some quick scanning while I searched back for my last post tells me that a lot of you have had a VERY SUCCESSFUL month losing weight. I look forward to catching up on the details! CONGRATULATIONS to all you big losers and maintainers and never-say-quitters!

Susan: What a wonderful trip you had, glad to see you hop right back on your plan. And thank you...I thought this month had been a slow one, but so far down 9 lbs. I have been lucky to have averaged 12-16 lbs a month, was hoping to keep up the trend.

Dale: I'm sure you will hit the new decade soon.

Jeanette: Doing great!

Sarah: You are coming down, even if slow, it is always better than going up.

Diane: Keep up the great work.

Louise: Doing great!

Well done!! my goodness you've had quite the time of it. good luck with your dad and step mom. My mom is in an Alzheimer's unit and the staff turnover is quite amazing. but then it's such hard work. wow - takes a special person to do that.

so glad you were able to maintain. that is an AMAZING accomplishment given the stress you were under. Well done.
