Default What can we use to substitute

I am wanting to make pancakes or pikelet for breakfast instead of eggs which I am getting sick of.. I would also wanting to know what we can use to substitute for the Atkins Bake mix...

I am in Queensland on the Gold Coast so most of the things available in Melbourne and Sydney that I have been reading about I can't get hold of..

Is Soy Whey Protien powder suitable for anything???

The guy in the health food store was trying to sell that to me.. but it had no carb count on it as you bought it in bulk ~ $25.95 p/kg.

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen,

Have you tried using almond meal to make pancakes? I haven't made them myself, but my sister has and reckons they're pretty good. Add some baking powder to help them rise.

I've also seen the suggestion to use ½ almond meal, ½ protein powder. I have the soy protein powder and for mine, it tastes dreadful! So I would recommend you get whey protein rather than soy. I believe the taste is much better.

About the breakfasts, try thinking "outside the box" a little. There's no law that says you have to have breakfast food for breakfast. I often have chicken wings, lamb chops or leftovers from the night before. Also, check out the "Breakfast Ideas" forum here for more ideas.

HTH.

Roz

Karen, you'll find almond meal in any supermarket. My local Coles has it in both the "health food" section and with the dried fruit type section. Sanitarium is one brand.

The carb count (of the Sanitarium one at least) is on the packet. 4 carbs (fibre presubtracted) per 100g. I think 100g is about a cup.

Cheers!

Roz
