They are fried pig skins! But you would never know! They are puffy and crunchy and taste like bacon. They are not at all greasy. They are great alone or for dipping. Just beware the salt if it is a problem for you.

LOL

Yesterday was my first encounter with them as well. At that time, I had no idea what they were, but after my second rind I decided they weren't for me.

Default Why is pig skin any different from sausage?

Personally, I love them. But I had to try a few different brands to find one that really worked for me, and a couple of them were blinking AWFUL.

It will be interesting to see what happens to this food product when the big guys get involved. So far, it seems that pork rinds are a marginal item in the QuickMart. But as LCing spreads (which can, I think, absolutely be tracked by the volume of pork rinds sold), then FritoLay and everyone else will be jumping on the bandwagon.

Then we'll have whole racks, all the different flavors, just like the corn chips are today.

There's an article over on the "general news" listing talking about the big carb players--flour, sugar, etc.--being a little concerned about a shift in America's diet toward LC, because it can only hurt sales. Fun to be part of a demographic shift.
