Default Hi everyone!

I'm very new here. Tried Atkins/Protein Power but all that meat was really getting to me. Also, I LOVE veggies so with Atkins I just couln't seem to get it together. Anyway, I've been Beaching since Monday and I can't believe it, I've lost 5.5 lbs. Is this normal? I'm sure it's a lot of water loss but heck, at least it's some kind of loss!
I'm glad to find a SBD forum around here! All of you are such an inspiration to me.

Welcome AmyP.
I just started the SBD on Monday, too. I have lost 5 lbs so far. I had been doing the Atkins prior and lost about 19 lbs but got off over the holidays and gained most of it back. I tried to get back on the Atkins, but it was just too restricted and I think I will be better of in the long run if I do the SouthBeach. There are plenty of helpful people here so come on in and make yourself at home.

Hi Amy,

Welcome. I'm with you about Atkins and the meat overload. I didn't lose very much, either.

As to SB, I think your weight loss is spot-on for the first week, I've done about the same. Unbelievable.

Darn it! MY weight loss has just stopped, completely. That is so frustrating!

I had 2 gin and diet tonics last weekend and am wondering: could that have really made that big of a difference?

Also, I ate real sausage twice this week.

I hate stalling!

A question about Ranch dressing-the type I use has <3 grams sugar. Is this okay or should I be sticking to balsalmic vinagrette, which I can't stand?

Goodness, I do hope it wasn't the gin. They make diet tonic, but I don't imagine you can get it at a bar.

According to the SBD book, any dressing with 3gm sugar (or less) is okay. The type of oil is important though. Has to be an unsaturated kind.

The jury is still out on the alcohol, I have asked on this forum and what I have found out is that it could cause a stall in some but not in others. I usually have a vodka and diet rite at night so I am hoping I won't stall, I'll just have to wait and see. Welcome to the group.
