This recipe needs a bump I made this tonight with chocolate protein 1 egg, and little baking powder and cook them in a pan like pancakes and they are so delish!

Can you believe I completely FORGOT about that recipe from 2 years ago? That's what I get for never getting it all the way to my blog! Gosh it sounds good.

I'm thinking now that making 1 Tbsp of the protein powder out of egg-white protein, and another 1 Tbsp of it out of non-gelling gelatin (Collagen Hydrolysate which I have a lot of I need to find a way to get into me!). that would change the density a little bit, maybe for the better, and make the AA spectrum better too.

I also had this GREAT idea (modest, yes!) a minute ago: since this is essentially a batter... what about thick-sliced mushrooms, dipped in this, then deep fried in the coconut oil or whatever? Or what about adding diced or minced mushrooms along with the pepperoni to the batter. Ooooh.

I'm also thinking, if I ditched the pizza idea, I could add caraway seed (my brain associated anything with caraway as the taste of rye bread), and then once these cooled, cut them in half, and pile the little things with some kind of topping (like garlic mayo cheese spread).

Now you've done it.

I made these today and yesterday - and they were delicious! But they seem to make me really tired. Anyone have any idea why that could be?

It's a ton of protein, if it's whey it is very rapidly digestible, and protein has some insulin effect (less than carbs but some). Maybe that combination just caused a sort of blood sugar rise and fall. This is a totally wild guess, I really have no idea.

PJ, how much butter is there in a "cube"? It is not sold in cubes anywhere that I've lived.

Sorry, a cube is 4 oz US measure -- 4 cubes in a pound. My bad.

I put everything in weight/grams now when I do recipes, wish I'd learned that sooner. :-)

Default Will have to try again

I just tried these today as a treat and they turned out like most of my baked goods - not so good. I think I had the oil too hot because they were nice and brown on the outside and runny on the inside. I also didn't add enough sweeter - or maybe lo han doesn't stand up to heat - or maybe added too much stevia - either way all I could taste was stevia aftertaste. I'll get another sweentener for next time and turn down the heat some. Any hints welcome

I made this today with a few modifications. I put everything in the batter, put a little butter in a fry pan, and made a pancake. It was wonderful! Love this combination of ingredients!

Allow me to be the latest to rave about this recipe. I tried it this afternoon because I was craving a sweet snack. OMG! They were so yummy. I made them in my mini donut maker so clean-up would be easier then topped them with no carb jelly. So good!!

I found a recipe on my blog, and came to this thread which sponsored it. I guess I never posted here that I made a variant of this recipe which was unflavored protein, had a little powdered parmesan, italian herbs, and diced pepperoni, and my teen (at the time) and I dipped it in red pasta sauce. It was very good and she was nuts about it. It tasted like the kind of junk food you'd get frozen in a box and bake or nuke. Atlee's original recipe (sweet) is wonderful, for anyone who hasn't tried it. But it's a "concept" recipe, like bowl muffins or mock danish or deep dish quiche pizza, limited only by your imagination.
