Default back on the wagon...weight not coming off...high TSH to blame?

hello all. after being only 11 lbs from goal, I have languished this past year, never really going off LC but not really being too strict either. I have gained about 20 lbs and am now trying to get "back on the wagon", buckle down and get to goal. I have noticed this time around that the weight loss is much harder, and I am not losing the same as before. I recently had my blood work done and my TSH came back at 5.3. now this is considered in normal range, however I have read that the ranges have recently been lowered to 3.3 or lower. so my question is: are my thyroid results abnormal, and if so, could that be the culprit in my slow weight loss? I am wondering if overconsumption of soy has thrown things out of whack. I try to avoid it now! any input will be appreciated!

No, it isn't in the normal range. That range has been reduced to 3 . Yes, it could be the cause of your slow weight loss. Probably a good idea to avoid soy and the other goitrogens that are present in raw cruciferous veggies until you get on proper medication.

There's usually a reason for hypothyroid, like an autoimmune disease of the thryoid, and it generally only gets worse.
