Default Is going over calorie intake okay?

Hi I just started Atkins Thursday -
I read in here that you're supposed to keep your calories in the 10 to 12 times your body weight range. That would put me between 1400-1700 a day. I'm also tracking my carbs in a journal and while I'm in under the 20 g mark my calories are coming in around 1700 - 2000 range - mostly from bacon, eggs and mayonaisse (in tuna fish salad).
Since this is all fat is it okay? Please shed some light on this. I only have the old book and there was no mention about calories so I thought.

Thanks,

ccmarketer
By the way I am showing moderate ketosis at this point haven't checked my weight.

ccmarketer, the 10 - 12 guideline is the minimum you should be eating - not the maximum. This amount of calories satisfies your basal metabolic functions - which comprise 60-70% of the calories you need a day just to get by. So yes, it's very much OK to eat more than that - in most cases it's better if you do. 10 - 12 times is just to ensure your body doesnt think it's being starved.

The bulk of your calories will come from fat - usually around 70% of your intake. This is normal. Just ensure that you are getting enough protein daily. Women need a minimum 60g a day - a good way to figure our what you require is to take your LBM (lean body mass; your weight minus the fat on your body) and multiply it by .6. If you don't have a formula for figuring out LBM just take your weight and multiply it by .4 and be sure you eat that much protein daily. And of course, make sure you're drinking all your water (at the very least, 64 oz a day + 8 oz for every 25 lbs of fat you want to lose)

Default Thanks

Still trying to work out the kinks and I'm a waterholic to begin with so hopefully I'll see a pound or two slip away soon. Still trying to get into the exercising - but I go to night school and work so it leaves me little time to exercise - really if you sucked at Algebra as much as I do you'd sympathize LOL.

thanks,

ccmarketer
