Default new with a question

I have this funky feeling in my mouth and tongue. My lips feel fuller and my tongue has a strange feeling on the end. Almost like I have a coating throughout… is this normal, has any one else experience something like this..????? Ellen

Sounds like Ketosis, Ellen.

Ketosis is a sure sign that you're in fat burning mode. It usually involves a funky taste in your mouth; often descibed as "sucking on a bandaid" or metalic, or 'fruity'. You'll often have breath that smells off as well. You can help alleviate this by drinking more water. What you're smelling and tasting are the ketone bodies that have 'spilled' over into your lungs from your blood stream (they also spill into your urin and stool). Drinking more water will dilute the concentration and you'll taste/smell less of them.

Ketosis is also characterized by a lack of appetite; this is why it is very important to plan your meals and then eat them! Eating too little will cause fat loss to slow down.

Guidelines for water consumption are 64 oz a day minimum + 8 oz for every 25 lbs of fat you wish to lose. More is always better - water is what will flush out those toxins - it also helps keep you from feeling bloated.
