Thank you. My dr. has demanded that I come in every couple weeks and get checked out-blood pressure, check my heart rate, weight, etc. I will be having blood tests too. If i miss seeing him for a month he will revoke the prescription. So if it works, i still have to come and see him and be watched.

Its not a stimulate appetite suppressant like a diet drug. It works more like an antidepressant, aims for a certain area of the brain assosiated with bite eating. It isn't a diet drug at all. It was originally marketed as an antisesiure med. Then it was approved for chronic migraines. Which I suffer from. After further study it showed that the med affected the area that helps destimulate the area of the brain that causes binge eating. It is used as a tool in controlling binge eating, so you can teach yourself coping skills. My Dr says he knows of no other med that is directly aimed at binge eating treating the "mental" disorder and not the appetite. Makes since because in my cause the binge has nothing to do with hunger.

Some of the best medical discoveries have been side-effects.
DD is on a very mild dose of amitriptyline (an antidepressant) to prevent migraines. Migraine prevention is a side-effect of the drug.
I have suffered from binge eating my whole life. I do well on Atkins, then have a slip which turns into binges and I gain everything back.( again and again and again!) Mainecyn the last post I see from you is about 3 weeks ago, how are you doing with the meds and your plans?
