although you may
not have seen me." (Miss Scarlet,
Clue)
Hello! I've been lurking on the site off and on since 2004, when I lost 25 lbs using the South Beach Diet, but this is my very first post here ever.
Over the years, I've continued to incorporate many of the principles I learned from low-carb eating in order to maintain my weight. However, following the birth of my son two years ago, I've really struggled to lose weight. When he was three months old, I did Paleo for a couple of months, but after not losing a single pound in all that time, I gave up. Once he weaned, I tried again, with the same disheartening results. After my second unsuccessful attempt to lose the baby weight, I've had a hard time motivating myself to return to low carb.
But, I've now managed to talk myself back onto the wagon. On January 9th, I began Whole30. As of yesterday (I was weighed at a doctor's appointment), I had lost two pounds. I'm not going to lie -- I was rather disappointed with that number given how much I suffered last week and given that some (or all) of that was probably water weight. I decided today that I would try an even stricter approach by following Whole30 while also limiting carbs to <20.
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed (and depressed) by the thought of needing to lose 46 pounds, but I know many of you are facing even greater challenges. I decided to come out of lurkdom for the accountability and support the board offers. So, here I am!
