Unhappy I have to ask this question

Since I started Atkins on March 19th, I've had less bowel movements. Is this normal? I normally take some metamucil to help with the constipation and although it helps I just don't get the urge to go. Is this healthy? I wonder because aren't you supposed to have at least 1 bowel movement per day? Anyway, I don't feel bad or anything I just don't have the URGE to GO!

Make sure you are eating lots of green veggies -- Atkins says 2 cups of salad a day plus 1 cup of other veggies. That should help keep things moving.

Others have talked about taking psylium husks, I use benefiber, it is tasteless and sugarless, you mix it in whatever you are drinking or you can mix it in your food. As with anything, look at the carb amount on anything you add.

you might also check out this site, it talks about those types of issues: http://www.lowcarb.ca/tips/tips012.html

One more thing, you are eating less bulky foods, so you will go less often. I went from at least 3 times a day to once a day most of the time. Occassionally I wind up skipping a day.

When I started, as my body adjusted, I only went once every two days. It's not abnormal.

When I was on Atkins, I found it necessary to take some extra magnesium at night. But be careful! It can do the trick TOO WELL!
