Question Size/ weight chart?

Does anyone know of an online chart that shows what size clothes a person of a certain height and weight would wear?
I know it may vary between people too much, but I am curious if my goal weight realistically corresponds with my goal size....
Thanks,
Karen

Good luck finding one that works!

I was the exact same height as my best friend - 5' 7". I weighed 187 pounds, and she weighed just under 150. Yet we both wore a size 13.

Just FYI... I'm 5'7" too... and weigh about 153-155... I'm not 'toned" since I don't exercise regularly, I'm 44 years old, and I wear a size 12...almost a 10. I'm quite comfortable here, but I really think I'd be more content in a 10.

I don't know of a chart like you're describing.

This may be what you are looking for.

Size Calculation

(.118 x weight) + (.059 x age) - (.298 x height in inches) + 11.11 = size

My calculations at age 58 show that at these weights I should wear these sizes:
200 lbs = size 18
180 lbs = size 16
165 lbs = size 14
150 lbs = size 12

I would say that these calculations are right on for me!

Hope this helps you,
Carol

Default Oz vs US

Now all I have to do is find somewhere that tells me what a US size 12 is in Australia and I'll be set. If anyone can help me with that I'd be very grateful.

I just tried out the calculation, and can't get it to work. It says I should be wearing a size 20 or thereabouts now, whereas I am in a UK 16 (US 14??)
What am I doing wrong? I think you take the 11.11 away at the end, rather than add it, but even so it seems wrong.

Any hints? It is such a clever idea, to factor in height weight and age, I would love to use it properly.

Lucy R, how tall are you? Because this works for me and I'm 5'8.5" and it says at 200 I would wear an 18. If you are shorter than me, it should be close for you.

Teri, I have no idea where I got this--it's just in my notebook of all sorts of cool things I've collected to help me.

i am wondering if the size chart differs from everyone esp. at the fact that two different people of different weights wear the same sizes...we've got to consider the inherited body shapes...

or perhaps at least size charts for different body shapes?

i was told i should fit into US Size 8 according to my friend in the US who says she fits into size 6. but i compared my frame size to hers, she seems to be bigger and yes she is taller. and i find esp her fats are deposited at her thighs and face...plus i am endormorphic. she should be mesomorph...her torso is much longer than mine naturally she always think she's skinnier...wahahaha hmm thats a bad thing abt being endomorphic.

I've always heard that a US 12 is an Aussie 14, but I couldn't swear to it.

This is an online conversion chart...but it doesn't mention Australia! If you know the comparison with European or UK sizes, it might be of help. Here it is anyway:

Edit: Found another site (which confirms my assumption that Australian sizes are 1 bigger than US): http://www.jumpingjackflash.com.au/...e_chart.html#10

Cheers!

We do have to consider that muscle weighs more than fat and takes less space. So with that, a heavy, muscular person could wear the same size as a lighter, fatter person. Same goes for tall vs short.

This calculation works for me, but I am tall, and fat, not muscular.

Yes, I am tall and fat too, no muscle that I've ever noticed!!

58inches and age 52. As I say I wear size UK 16, which I think is US 14.

Lucy, I think your problem is that you have the wrong inches for your height.

5 feet = 60 inches and 5 feet is not tall. You said you are tall.

If you are 5 feet, 8 inches tall, then you would be 68 inches not 58 inches.

I am 5 feet 8.5 inches and I am 58 years old, so I will come up with a larger size than you.

If you were 58 inches, you would be less than 5 feet and at 188, you would probably wear a size 20.

Calculate again and see if you don't come out closer.

Carol
