Angry Beware of CarbWatchers Bars!

Beware of CarbWatchers "candy" bars!

I got the praline mocha for my once a week 1 net carb treat, and discovered after eating that it was 1 net carb per serving and the servings are miniscule. In two places the bar says "net 1 carb" in big, bright print, yet on the nutritional panel (black print printed on bronze wrapper that is hard to see), the "3 servings" are listed. The print for this is also much smaller than that on the front caying "Less than 1g Net impact carbs." To make matters worse, the whole bar is the length of 1/4 of a kit kat (sorry) and just a tad bit thicker. And they aren't even all that tasty. Stick with Russel Stover or De-Lite.

So sad . . . I hope I didn't "ruin" my day or ketosis by eating 2 extra grams of net carb (or all the extra malitol). Sigh . . .

Sue

I really doubt that 2 extra net carbs is going to have all that much effect, really. Not enough to get all upset over.

I wouldn't worry about it!

But you may need to stay convenient to a bathroom tomorrow if you are susceptible to the effects of sugar alcohols. Hope you are alright.

Default I feel duped!!

I'd been eating these things, too - especially love the white chocolate with raspberry - absolutely delic. And since these things are so small and only have one carb, I'd usually eat 2 - until I happened to read the fine print and discovered that there are 3 servings in this minature candy bar.... The funny thing is, the bar consists of 5 pieces of chocolate - how is one supposed to get that one serving? A knife and a ruler?

In my opinion, this is misleading the consumer and it's just wrong. A whole Mars bar is one serving!!!

Have you heard of the low carb M&Ms? Less than 1 gram of carbs. Serving size: one M (half of 1 M&M). (OK, not sure if the carb-math is right on that one, but I'm just trying to make a point - if they reduce the serving size enough, EVERYTHING is low carb).

It's best to always read the nutrional information before indulging. My wife makes the same error all the time and she seems mistified when I point out that she's just eatin three times the amount that she thought she had. So, ignore what the front of ANY package says, it's what's on the back that counts. Sort of like one of those $99 a month new cars. It's not what's on the front of the add that matters, it's what's on the back where find out that it's a 10 year loan at 20% APR.

the good news is that in comparison to many s/f bars, these tend to be lower in sa's.

You know, i'm gonna go a little off subject..but not really...and say that someone needs to draw the line as far as serving sizes go....i mean....what's the point in being so misleading? They have this "NEW"..."low carb fruit"..yea right...so out of curiosity..i look at the can, and its a tiny little one serving can, but there are three servings in the can...so about a bite would be one serving..what a crock....glad you thought of looking at the serving size...so atleast you know next time.

I'm just having a "moment" about how much I've learned in the last year+ since the thread was started. I remember being so happy I could subtract the sugar alcohols and have them magically not COUNT. <sigh>
