Default new to this board

Hi people:
I have been following sugarbusters for more than a year and at first was doing great and then nothing.
Of course, the people on Sugar Busters said, eliminate the bread and pasta's.
I was not eating them to excess, but toasted bread was my dessert in the evening.
So, out goes those staples.
then too much fruit;
so now I have decided to read as much as I can about what happens to my blood sugar.
I just ordered Schwarzbein's Principle and cook book. So I'm new to this forum and thirsty for all I can get on the priciples of low carbing.
My added problem is Gout.
How to eliviate and prevent it and still keep on a program that will help me to lose weight.
Any suggestions from you all will be appreciated.

Default Gout and Niacin

Jujubaby, I just read this in an article:

The vitamin Niacin, which looked promising [as a cholesterol reducer], but although there appeared to be a reduction in non-fatal heart attacks, there were marked side effects: skin disorders such as darkening, itches and rashes, as well as digestive problems and gout.

The article is at:

http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/ch...rol_myth_5.html

and is a discussion of cholesterol.

Hope this helps,
;-Deb
