The main solution to most common problems when starting low carb is to increase the intake of water and salt.

http://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/...ts#inductionflu

Broth works fast...do you have a box of chicken broth or those little cubes? if not, knock back some salt off your hand or mix in a glass of water.

But because you are on meds...be sure your Blood Glucose is not too Low! Read this warning:

Check for these other symptoms, but headache is one: http://www.diabetes.org/living-with...-low-blood.html

Hi Stew and welcome. Aside from the always great advice from Janet above, I'm not clear about what foods you are eating each day? Headaches can also be from not eating enough.

Make sure you follow an Atkins book to the letter, eating to satiety each meal.

Low carb healthy fat will be a fantastic natural way to treat your diabetes. But you really need to learn all you can about this way of eating, what foods to eat and then commit to it fully.

I sound like a broken record but a good way to utilize this site, besides reading all the links Janet has shared, is to start a journal under the Journal/Boot Camp thread. Just start a new post in that forum, give it a title you like and then add to this same post each day to record the foods you eat. This will help you focus on commitment. In another post you say you've tried Atkins before. Try it this time with serious determination and long-term commitment because you can become well and actually enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
Best of luck!! You are worth it.

So glad Janet's broth suggestion paid off for you!

Acceptable Atkins food list can be found here: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=236482

Everything on Atkins here:

This site totally rocks! But think of things you like to eat ... and then write up your grocery list for all your Breakfast, Lunch and Supper meals for the next few days. I go on little binges of taco salad for 4 days (without the shells) or greek ribs, or sausage with mustard and I buy the pre-packaged Kale/Cabbage salad kits. My breakfast is usually always either 2 fried eggs with bacon or an omelet with veggies/meat.
My grocery shopping is tailored to my lazy cooking style

Happy shopping

Glad it worked and you weren't having a hypo. I continue to watch my salt intake six years later, not often, but occasionally feel lightheaded. The extra salt works every time.

The Atkins permitted food lists Greek Ribs listed are good. Just buy what you like that is on the permitted food list.
